Arc 90The One-Third City

Xu Huo dismantled the Tian Family’s operations, then entered One-Third City and built a law-enforcement network while investigating its mysterious game. The water Rubik’s Cube pulled him into Space Prison, where he recognized the maze’s unstable spatial power as a chance for Spatial Evolution.

  • Xu Huo attacked the Tian Family with explosions, bounties, and raids, then used his Time Power to kill the Third Master and four A-class guards.
  • Xu Huo traveled to the Platinum Eye, visited Old Mrs. Lu and the children, and boarded a train with the painted woman for One-Third City.
  • After arriving in One-Third City, Xu Huo learned about its restricted areas and dangerous One-Third Game, then became a temporary enforcement officer and drove Players out of the law enforcement building.
  • Xu Huo organized resident registration and expanded his authority across several sub-districts, while his group investigated the game’s triggers, memory loss, and missing city government.
  • Xu Huo recruited Players to collect evidence and identify murderers, submitted warrant applications, and fought attacks on his temporary enforcement building.
  • Shi Meng destroyed the former law enforcement building and turned against Xu Huo, who killed him before vanishing with the people held there.
  • The water Rubik’s Cube transported Xu Huo into Space Prison as a guard, where he teamed up with a female guard and explored the maze.
  • Xu Huo observed the maze’s collapsing spatial structures, recognized an opportunity for Spatial Evolution, and warned the other Players not to touch the giant cube he manifested.
Chapters 2233–2257 Vol. 23 Read

Ch. 2233I Have Money Too

After parting from Dr. Dian, Xu Huo went after the Tian Family, attacking their laboratory and cemetery before laying siege to their ancestral residence. He left the family scrambling to protect itself and, rather than pursue its departing groups personally, arranged bounties against them and two important family members.

  • Dr. Dian gave the painted woman the belongings he had bought for her, and she gave him a notebook of useful contacts before they parted.
  • Xu Huo set out to target the Tian Family, while the painted woman agreed to buy a ticket home and meet him later.
  • Xu Huo blew up a Tian Family laboratory and cemetery, then waited outside the family’s ancestral residence as its leaders escaped through a portal.
  • The Tian Family failed to get the District Government to identify or protect them, so it sent three groups out as bait to draw in its enemy.
  • Xu Huo gave a player with a grudge information about one group, offered bounties on the other groups, and posted two fifty-million-White-Cash bounties on important Tian Family members.

Ch. 2234Because We Weren't Strong Enough, We Had to Outwit Them

Xu Huo attacked the Tian Family through bounties, targeted raids, and sabotage, then used robots to scout the family’s heavily guarded estate. Unable to break through the defenses alone, he heard the painted woman propose a scheme to frame the Tian Family by kidnapping a government official’s family member.

  • Xu Huo placed bounties on members of the Tian Family and Players working for them, drawing hunters into attacks on the family’s groups.
  • Xu Huo raided Tian Family personnel and businesses in Station City, paying bounty hunters for their reports and leaving hidden hazards in the family’s residential complex.
  • Xu Huo borrowed two unarmed scouting robots from Dr. Dian and sent them to investigate the Tian Family estate.
  • The robots located high-level Players guarding the estate’s barrier, but they could not identify the family members at its center.
  • The painted woman proposed kidnapping a District Government official’s family member and framing the Tian Family, then volunteered to act as the kidnapper.

Ch. 2235The Abandoned Pawn

Xu Huo left the Tian Family’s residence after stirring up rumors about his supposed Super Artifact and traveled to Lake Bay City. There, the Tian Family’s Third Master demanded that the family continue its human experiments, just as Xu Huo’s arrival brought a powerful force down on the villa.

  • Xu Huo spread conflicting rumors about whether the Tian Family had stolen his Super Artifact, then left the city for Lake Bay City.
  • The Tian Family’s Third Master told the Secretary that the family must continue its human experiments to secure the Antidote he needed.
  • The Third Master accused the Old Master and the family of profiting from the experiments and demanded they open another laboratory or kill him.
  • Five A-class players arrived to guard the Third Master, who dismissed their protection and said no one would find the villa.
  • The villa’s defensive barriers vanished, and an extraordinarily powerful force descended upon the room.

Ch. 2236Inheriting Angel's Teeth

Xu Huo used the Time Power to kill Third Master and the Tian Family’s guards, leaving a warning and evidence of their experiments. He secured all sixteen Angel’s Teeth, placed two in District 008, then rested with Old Mrs. Lu’s family before finding Tu Xiaoxiao fortune-telling on Two-Fifths Avenue.

  • Xu Huo’s Time Power aged Third Master and four A-class guards to death, while one A-class player survived and heard Xu warn the Tian Family against further wrongdoing.
  • Xu Huo left a container marked Kesi Biology at the Mountain Villa and concluded that Granny Bai had killed the Fairytale City passengers before her own death.
  • Xu Huo considered the Angel’s Teeth’ teleportation abilities and guessed that Granny Bai had given them up because she was ready to abandon her artifact and her life.
  • Xu Huo traveled to the Chongming Bird Administrative Region and placed two Angel’s Teeth near the city and near Lichuan before using a Ticket to reach the Platinum Eye.
  • Xu Huo visited Old Mrs. Lu, learned that Xiao Yuan and Tan Qi were doing well at school, and gave the painted woman a mineral-classification book when she asked to learn artifact-making.
  • After resting with Xiao Yuan and Tan Qi, Xu Huo went to Two-Fifths Avenue and found Tu Xiaoxiao telling a local girl that love was near.

Ch. 2237I Prefer Clearing Dungeons Alone

Xu Huo learned that Yan Jiayu had been unreachable since entering a possible amusement park Random Instance, then left Platinum Eye to enter a Dungeon. On the train, he declined a woman’s offer to team up and watched her recruit a bearded Player for the One-Third City Dungeon.

  • Xu Huo asked Tu Xiaoxiao about Yan Jiayu, and she said Yan had stopped contacting her after mentioning an amusement park Random Instance.
  • Xu Huo returned to Old Mrs. Lu’s residence, said goodbye to Xiao Yuan and Tan Qi, placed two Angel’s Teeth near Platinum Eye, and boarded a train with the painted woman.
  • Xu Huo reviewed guides for a Dungeon where Players had to kill a required number of wanted criminals to gain access to more of the Sub-district.
  • A female Player tried to recruit Xu Huo, but he refused and moved to another seat.
  • The woman persuaded a bearded Player to take her into his Dungeon in exchange for becoming his lover, and she said they were headed to One-Third City.

Ch. 2238One-Third City

Xu Huo entered One-Third City and found himself confined to a tiny unlocked area while local players attacked him. As he tried to identify criminals to fulfill his mission, he discovered that wanted posters could be manipulated and began asking nearby people whether they were wanted.

  • Xu Huo was forcibly transported into One-Third City and attacked by more than ten players as soon as he arrived.
  • Xu Huo used his powers and artifacts to defend himself, then realized his unlocked area was only a ten-foot circle.
  • Xu Huo observed that players across the city were targeting newcomers while ordinary residents watched, and he saw two other players arrive with larger unlocked areas.
  • Xu Huo pulled a player whose face appeared on a wanted poster into his area and used an artifact-removal item to reveal that the man had been disguised.
  • Another player killed the revealed man with a sharp attack, and Xu Huo decided he could not trust the wanted posters or available records.
  • Xu Huo randomly selected about twenty nearby people and asked whether they were in the wanted catalog.

Ch. 2239Why the Name Was Changed

Xu Huo explored One-Third City, learned how its districts and local rules worked, and asked residents why the city had acquired its name. He accepted a young woman’s invitation to dinner but heard someone snoring inside her home.

  • Xu Huo killed nineteen Wanted Criminals in his unlocked area, causing it to expand across several nearby streets.
  • Xu Huo saw residents die after smashing a Game Points sign, then studied a map showing the city’s fifty districts and their separate resources.
  • Xu Huo paid a middle-aged woman for information and learned that locals called the city One-Third City because players often got stuck one-third of the way through its Dungeon.
  • A young woman warned Xu Huo that the middle-aged woman was a con artist, then invited him upstairs for dinner.
  • Xu Huo heard someone snoring in the bedroom when he reached the young woman’s door.

Ch. 2240What, Is It Illegal to Go Out at Night?

Xu Huo discovered that the woman who hosted him and her father had poisoned his food and set a trap for him, then used a robot to test how nearby Players reacted to someone being thrown into the street at night. He confronted the pair and demanded an explanation, leaving them to choose whether to talk or face his Syringe.

  • Xu Huo learned from the woman that the city was controlled by a Player organization and that many residents were criminals or their descendants.
  • After nightfall, the woman tried to persuade Xu Huo to stay, and he accepted when she warned that the streets were unsafe.
  • Xu Huo realized the woman and her father had poisoned his food and set a spring-loaded trap beneath his bed, while Players watched from nearby buildings.
  • Xu Huo sent his housekeeping robot outside in his place, and nearby Players attacked it until it landed on the street, then stopped when they recognized it as a robot.
  • Xu Huo summoned the woman and her father, accused them of trying to hurt him, and placed a Syringe on the table to make them choose whether to confess.

Ch. 2241The One-Third Game

Xu Huo questioned a father and daughter about Buliu City’s One-Third Game, but their memories of its rules and contents had been erased. He learned the basic ways to avoid triggering it and weighed those restrictions against his Dungeon objective to kill 1,000 criminals.

  • Xu Huo interrogated the woman, who explained that entering the game could be triggered by going out at night or leaving an unlocked area.
  • After Xu Huo injected and hypnotized the woman and her father, they recalled losing their memories but knew nothing about the game itself.
  • The father and daughter said a rumor claimed that more people entering the One-Third Game made everyone safer, and they described the city’s Game Point signs and area restrictions.
  • Xu Huo learned that players could enter the game by suddenly disappearing and that people disagreed about whether anyone could leave Buliu City.
  • Xu Huo decided to stay within his unlocked area and avoid going out at night while considering how the game might interfere with his objective to kill 1,000 criminals.

Ch. 2242A Temporary Law Enforcement Officer

Xu Huo investigated how Buliu City handled wanted criminals and secured temporary enforcement officer status from the city government. He returned to reclaim a nearby enforcement building, where the Players occupying it challenged his authority.

  • Xu Huo questioned a breakfast shop owner about reporting criminals and learned that Players had occupied a nearby enforcement office.
  • Xu Huo obtained a booklet explaining the old criminal-reporting process and reviewed complaints about the city government’s unreliable enforcement.
  • Xu Huo applied to become a temporary enforcement officer, offering equipment in exchange for official certification and access to internal information.
  • The city government granted Xu Huo temporary status after he agreed to donate flight recorders connected to Buliu City's main terminal.
  • Xu Huo showed his work ID at the enforcement building, and its machine confirmed his identity as temporary enforcement officer No. 239.
  • A bald Player and seven others confronted Xu Huo and demanded that he lend them his ID.

Ch. 2243Temporary Workers Hire Temporary Workers

Xu Huo used his temporary law-enforcement authority to clear Players who had occupied Buliu City's law enforcement building, killing all but one. He hired the two guards as temporary workers and left the surviving attacker free to bring back more enemies.

  • Xu Huo sent armed robots after the Players occupying the law enforcement building and warned them that they were breaking the law.
  • Xu Huo killed an attacking Player, recorded the death, and used the terminal to issue wanted notices for the remaining intruders.
  • Xu Huo fought and killed a long-haired woman after she damaged an armed robot and tried to escape through his defensive barriers.
  • Xu Huo and the other Players killed everyone in the building except the bald man, whom Xu Huo allowed to flee.
  • Xu Huo issued temporary work permits to the two guards, and Shen Fu remarked that they could start their own city government.

Ch. 2244Collective Amnesia

Xu Huo and the others questioned Shen Fu and Shi Meng about the One-Third Game, which had erased parts of their memories and left their dungeon progress uncertain. They prepared ways to record their memories and planned to investigate further before the dungeon time limit expired.

  • Shen Fu explained that he and Shi Meng had nearly run out of time to clear the dungeon, though they had forgotten their task progress after playing the One-Third Game.
  • Shi Meng revealed that he had forgotten his identity as a player and even basic information about Dimension Games, while Shen Fu could not remember the game or much of his life before age thirty-five.
  • Xu Huo asked whether they still had their belongings, and Shen Fu said some items and Potions were missing; Zhu Xiaojin suggested their memories might have been taken as stakes too.
  • Shen Fu described possible triggers for entering the game, including killing people, going out at night, and crossing the borders of unlocked areas, but he could not identify what had caused it.
  • Xu Huo suggested the bald man and the others might belong to another overlapping dungeon, and the group began recording their memories and preparing to question more people.

Ch. 2245Tomorrow, We'll Issue Residence Permits to Everyone

Xu Huo and his group sheltered in the law enforcement building and prepared to establish order in Zone 5 by registering residents and issuing permits. They planned to investigate the city government and the Player organization while pursuing their clearance tasks.

  • Xu Huo moved a broken armed robot outside the building with warnings that it was government property and needed repairs.
  • Xu Huo sent collected documents to the city government's internal network to verify whether their statutes were authentic, but Players soon shot down the recorders he had donated.
  • Xu Huo announced that his group would register Zone 5 residents the next morning and issue permanent and temporary residence permits.
  • Xu Huo drew a map of Zone 5, assigned streets to his companions, and told them they would go out in pairs to register residents.
  • Zhu Xiaojin agreed to sound out influential Players as the group discussed how to identify Wanted Criminals for their clearance tasks.
  • Xu Huo handed out temporary residence permits and told his companions not to change their attached photos without permission.

Ch. 2246The Water Rubik's Cube as a Triggering Medium

Xu Huo and his allies began registering District 5 residents and Players while investigating the memory-erasing One-Third Game and its water Rubik's Cube trigger. After registering only about twenty Players, they returned to find the law enforcement building wrecked, and Xu Huo used a street recording to apply to have the perpetrators wanted.

  • Xu Huo sent proposed temporary city-management regulations to the city government and organized a registration campaign with Cheng Zhongzhi and the others.
  • Xu Huo enforced the new rules against uncooperative Players, killing twelve who refused to comply and attacked law enforcement.
  • Ruan Hong and another stranded Player told Xu Huo's group that the One-Third Game could be triggered randomly by a water Rubik's Cube and could cause memory loss or death.
  • Xu Huo and Cheng Zhongzhi discussed rumors that the city government was involved in the game and decided to wait for more information.
  • Xu Huo's group registered about twenty Players, then found the law enforcement building reduced to rubble.
  • Xu Huo retrieved a street-corner video of the attackers and submitted a Wanted Criminal application.

Ch. 2247A Legal and Legitimate Approach

Xu Huo used his city-government authorization to establish stricter public safety regulations and a legitimate process for certifying Wanted Criminals, while seeking allies to help manage the city. The chapter left Players divided over whether revealing the One-Third Game’s trigger conditions would make the Dungeon harder to clear.

  • Zhu Xiaojin told Xu Huo and the others that Players entering the city center did not return, while the city government still appeared able to communicate with the outside.
  • Xu Huo decided to post the approved public safety regulations and have the group gather evidence against Players who broke the law.
  • Xu Huo and his companions posted the regulations, wanted notices, and requests for information around the law enforcement building.
  • Xu Huo publicized the three ways to trigger the One-Third Game and invited Players to contribute, drawing objections from those who relied on Wanted Criminals to clear the Dungeon.

Ch. 2248Two Approaches

Xu Huo and the others debated how the One-Third Game related to the One-Third City dungeon, especially whether killing the wrong person could make a Player a criminal and trigger the game. Xu Huo pursued a plan to formalize public safety rules and gather information, but stranded Players refused to cooperate because they valued their freedom.

  • Xu Huo asked whether the One-Third Game and the One-Third City dungeon were connected, and the group considered how killing the wrong person or entering an unlocked area might trigger the game.
  • Qiao Jieping suggested that killing was probably the main crime recognized by the dungeon and that officially adding names to the wanted list might expand the targets Players could pursue.
  • Zhu Xiaojin pointed out that if killing the wrong person triggered the game, most Players who entered it would already be criminals, prompting Xu Huo to wonder whether the water Rubik's Cube selected criminals.
  • Tang Yu argued that the group should gather information from others who had cleared the dungeon instead of speculating about every possible trigger.
  • After District 5 residents reacted to Xu Huo's posted regulations, he bought aerial equipment to monitor the area and sent Zhu Xiaojin to seek cooperation with local Players.
  • Stranded Players declined Xu Huo's proposal because they had abandoned clearing the dungeon and feared that surveillance would make them Wanted Criminals.

Ch. 2249New Law Enforcement Officers

Xu Huo and his companions debated the One-Third City Dungeon’s hidden rules, including whether expanding unlocked areas and killing Wanted Criminals were connected to clearing it. Xu Huo was then appointed temporary joint administrator of eight sub-districts, and he saw photos of three other temporary law enforcement officers.

  • Cheng Zhongzhi added the warning that killing someone who was not a Wanted Criminal could trigger the game to the GG board.
  • The painted woman suggested that the old Wanted Criminals might already be dead, prompting the group to consider whether the government’s outdated wanted list explained the lack of Dungeon clearances.
  • Zhu Xiaojin proposed that their unlocked areas might belong to the One-Third Game, and that winning the game—not killing Wanted Criminals—might be necessary to leave the Dungeon.
  • Xu Huo said the group should prepare for the One-Third Game, while Zhu Xiaojin suggested they keep diaries in case they lost their memories.
  • Xu Huo’s application to oversee more sub-districts was accepted, and the city government appointed him temporary joint administrator of Sub-districts 4 through 7 and 9 through 12.
  • Xu Huo saw photos of the other three temporary law enforcement officers on the internal bulletin board.

Ch. 2250No Way Out

Xu Huo investigated how to clear Buliu City’s dungeon while discussing the One-Third Game with other temporary law enforcement officers. Lou Zigui warned that players trapped in the city might eventually die in the game, and Xu Huo left the conversation with a request to share any progress.

  • Xu Huo gave the city government an armed robot in exchange for keeping his authority as Joint Administrator, then spoke with Old Cai about the dungeon and the city government’s disappearance.
  • Old Cai and Xu Huo considered whether restoring the city government and completing an official wanted notice could clear the dungeon, since killing suspected criminals had produced no progress.
  • Xu Huo contacted Lou Zigui and shared what he knew about the water Rubik’s Cube, while Lou Zigui described his group’s findings about the One-Third Game.
  • Lou Zigui told Xu Huo that players who entered the One-Third Game lost their memories and that some trapped players had exceeded the dungeon’s time limit without finding a way out.
  • Lou Zigui asked Xu Huo to sell his group any clues he uncovered, warning that the trapped players might eventually die in the One-Third Game.

Ch. 2251Our Side's Faction Expands

Xu Huo organized Players into a temporary law-enforcement network to identify Wanted Criminals and test whether submitting warrants could help clear the One-Third Game. The group began gathering evidence and reporting suspects, while Zhu Xiaojin brought Xu Huo a man accused of killing and eating at least ten people.

  • Xu Huo shared information about possible game-clearance methods and decided to expand his law-enforcement effort across Districts 4 through 12.
  • Xu Huo allowed Shen Fu and Shi Meng to claim up to a third of their required Wanted Criminals as compensation for testing whether they could leave after failing to clear the game.
  • Qiao Jieping proposed investigating residents' past murders, and Cheng Zhongzhi offered to organize rewards for successful reports.
  • Xu Huo hired twenty Players to work across the city, and they gathered hundreds of confession videos from local residents.
  • Xu Huo submitted warrant applications backed by strong evidence, while Zhu Xiaojin and the others caught nearly twenty people with histories of murder.
  • Zhu Xiaojin presented Xu Huo with a middle-aged man accused of killing at least ten people, with a neighbor's video documenting the case.

Ch. 2252The Bait Took the Hook One by One

Xu Huo continued enforcing order in Buliu City while Players repeatedly attacked his teams and tried to steal his work ID. After he captured several attackers, an assault on the temporary enforcement building ended with the intruders trapped by the painted woman’s recorded evidence and a barrage of paper blades.

  • Xu Huo arrested a man who had killed people for food and ordered him held until the city government issued a wanted notice.
  • Players ambushed Xu Huo to steal his work ID, but he defeated and imprisoned all five attackers.
  • Zhu Xiaojin told Xu Huo that their teams had been attacked, and Xu Huo recruited more Players while continuing to gather evidence and wanted criminals.
  • While Xu Huo was away, Players stormed the temporary enforcement building and found the prisoners missing.
  • The painted woman announced that she had recorded the intruders and declared them wanted criminals, then paper blades attacked them from every direction.

Ch. 2253Nighttime Disappearances

Xu Huo and his allies captured players who had attacked them, but the city government still had not responded to their wanted requests, and the One-Third Game remained unexplained. During the night, Cheng Zhongzhi, Shen Fu, and several others vanished, apparently pulled into the game.

  • Xu Huo used the painted woman's paper and his Spiritual World to help Zhu Xiaojin and the others defeat the attackers, though three players escaped.
  • Xu Huo released the people he had hidden in the Staff Dormitory, and the group split into shifts to guard their captives while awaiting the city government's response.
  • The group discussed whether time could trigger the One-Third Game and worried that players might be forced into it even if they did not seek it out.
  • Xu Huo woke and found Cheng Zhongzhi and Shen Fu missing; Shi Meng and Zhu Xiaojin had seen nothing, and the recording showed no obvious cause.
  • The group discovered that two captured players, an ordinary captive, and a temporary worker had also disappeared, and Zhu Xiaojin noticed Shi Meng's tense reaction.

Ch. 2254Rules of Cooperation

Shi Meng tried to sabotage the players’ alliance with an explosion, but Xu Huo killed him and set terms for cooperation. After everyone agreed, Xu Huo vanished, apparently entering the game with the detained people, leaving the others unsure whether he could return.

  • Shi Meng planted an explosive artifact and detonated it, destroying the former law enforcement building and injuring Tang Yu.
  • Shi Meng tried to turn the players against Xu Huo, but Xu Huo killed him with a black line-like object.
  • Xu Huo offered to take one-fifth of each player’s submitted Wanted Criminals in exchange for using the municipal government’s channel, and the players agreed to cooperate.
  • Xu Huo vanished with the people held in the room, and Tang Yu and Zhu Xiaojin wondered whether he had entered the game and could return.

Ch. 2255Past, Present, and Future

Xu Huo entered the One-Third Game, ranked the past first, and was transported to a maze for a seven-day game called Space Prison. Assigned as one of five guards, he joined a female guard in searching for keys as prisoners rushed through the maze.

  • Xu Huo ranked the past, present, and future, then the water Rubik's Cube transported him to a maze with more than two hundred other participants.
  • The game rules assigned participants as guards or prisoners and explained the seven-day contest, including guards' duty to kill twenty-one prisoners and prisoners' chance to win by taking a guard's key.
  • Xu Huo was assigned the guard identity, and a prisoner who attacked him was erased by the water Rubik's Cube.
  • A female guard proposed that she and Xu Huo work together, and they ran into the maze searching for keys.
  • A tall man found a key on another Player and threw it toward Xu Huo and the female guard.

Ch. 2256Space Prison

Xu Huo explored Space Prison with a female Player, learned how the guard and prisoner roles worked, and split from the Players following them. He found a region where Space Power behaved differently and discovered that shifting a Space Ray made connected spaces tremble and form geometric shapes.

  • Xu Huo and the female Player examined Space Prison’s maze and discussed the dangers of opening unnumbered doors during the day.
  • Xu Huo explained that guards could roam and kill prisoners while prisoners could only win by obtaining a guard’s key, then warned the female Player to find her key.
  • A third guard warned Xu Huo and the female Player not to open the wrong doors, and Xu Huo split up with her to avoid the prisoners following them.
  • Xu Huo continued deeper into the maze as the pursuing Players fell behind and he noticed the Space Power becoming uneven and patterned.
  • Xu Huo nudged a distant Space Ray, causing connected spaces to tremble while their stable structures formed diamond-shaped cross sections and geometric solids.

Ch. 2257Spatial Core

Xu Huo observed the unstable spatial entities at the core of the spatial prison and warned a group of allied Players not to disturb them. He left them with a warning to hide, while the prison’s dangerous core remained intact.

  • The spatial entities collided and collapsed in patches, shifting rooms upward before the prison gradually settled.
  • Xu Huo examined the new spatial forms inside the giant cube and recognized their compressed, chaotic power as a rare opportunity for Spatial Evolution.
  • Xu Huo asked the approaching Players whether any had undergone Spatial Evolution and warned them not to use their Space Power recklessly.
  • When a spatial Super Evolver pressed him for details, Xu Huo manifested the giant cube and advised the group to observe it without touching it.
  • Xu Huo restrained a Player who challenged him, then released him after the Player apologized.
