Ch. 21Welcome Town?

Reiner and the Straw Hats reached Cactus Island after sailing through the Grand Line’s unpredictable weather. They arrived at Whiskey Peak, where Igaram and the villagers warmly welcomed the pirates.

  • Nami estimated that the crew would reach Cactus Island before sunset as Reiner and the others spent the voyage training, fishing, and preparing lunch.
  • Reiner spotted Cactus Island at dusk, and the Going Merry followed a river inland to the port.
  • Villagers spotted the pirate ship and gathered at the port, cheering and welcoming the crew instead of showing fear.
  • Igaram introduced himself as Whiskey Peak’s mayor and welcomed the crew to the Town of Welcome.
  • Luffy rushed to greet Igaram, and the Straw Hats mingled happily with the villagers.

Ch. 22Cactus Island Covered in Graves

The Straw Hats entered Whiskey Peak, where the townspeople welcomed them with a feast while secretly preparing to attack them. As the night ended, Reiner and the others learned the bounty hunters had made their move, but remained calm in the enemy hideout.

  • Igaram welcomed Luffy and the group to town, while Reiner recognized Whiskey Peak as a trap set by bounty hunters.
  • The villagers lured Sanji and Reiner with women and hosted a banquet, where Luffy ate heavily and Zoro and Nami won a drinking contest.
  • Igaram showed the bounty hunters posters for Luffy, Zoro, and Saw Devil, and the group decided to attack after the guests had supposedly passed out.
  • Reiner woke at midnight and told Sanji and Zoro that his undead had found little treasure in town.
  • Usopp, Sanji, Reiner, and Zoro stayed calm in the banquet hall as Luffy slept and the coming attack loomed.

Ch. 23Moonlit Three (Crossed Out) Two vs. a Hundred

Reiner, Zoro, and Sanji fought off a Baroque Works raid, while Reiner watched from the roof and helped shoot the attackers. After Zoro defeated Vivi without cutting her, Nami learned that she was a princess and demanded to know what Igaram meant.

  • Reiner identified the approaching attackers as Baroque Works agents, and Zoro pretended to be dead rather than join the fight.
  • Zoro and Sanji ambushed the crowd and swiftly defeated most of the hundred Baroque Works members while Reiner stayed on the roof.
  • A brown-haired gunman accused Reiner of groping his sister, and Reiner shot him and several other attackers.
  • Mr. 9 rolled off the roof during his attack on Zoro, and Vivi used her Mosquito Coil Dance before Zoro disarmed her without cutting her.
  • Sanji stopped Igaram's sneak attack, and Nami emerged and demanded an explanation after hearing Vivi called a princess.

Ch. 24Setting Off for Little Garden

The Straw Hat Crew accepted Igaram’s request to escort Vivi to Alabasta, while Igaram left separately to draw Baroque Works’ attention away from her. As the Going Merry set course for Little Garden, Crocodile learned Vivi was traveling with the crew and sent agents to intercept them.

  • After Luffy objected to the crew’s treatment of their hosts, Nami knocked him down, and Reiner questioned Igaram about Vivi.
  • Igaram offered the crew a job escorting Vivi to Alabasta, and Luffy agreed despite Nami proposing a one-billion-berry fee.
  • Vivi and Igaram agreed she would travel with the Straw Hat Crew, while Igaram left overnight to distract Baroque Works after spotting Unluckies.
  • The next day, Vivi boarded the Going Merry with Karoo, and the crew set sail toward Little Garden.
  • At Rain Dinners, Miss All Sunday told Crocodile that Vivi had left with the Straw Hat Crew and that Mr. 5 and Mr. 3 were heading to Little Garden; she also sent Mr. 2 to deal with them.

Ch. 25Giant Broggy

The Straw Hats enjoyed a lively stretch aboard the Going Merry before reaching Little Garden, where they encountered a giant named Broggy. Reiner and the others were left facing the island’s dangers after landing.

  • Vivi began joining the Straw Hats’ games and laughter, but Reiner embarrassed her with a photo and Sanji started a fight over it.
  • Three days later, Reiner spotted Little Garden, and the Going Merry sailed up the river into its prehistoric jungle.
  • The crew prepared to explore, while Nami and Usopp were frightened by the forest animals and tried to stay aboard.
  • Reiner convinced Nami and Usopp to come ashore and released undead to guard the Going Merry.
  • A giant emerged from the forest, introduced himself as Broggy, and warned the group to watch behind them.

Ch. 26An Uninvited Guest

Reiner and his companions met the giant Broggy on Little Garden, shared a meal and drinks with him, and Reiner tried to use his blue flames to collect Broggy's body. Meanwhile, Mr. 3, Mr. 5, and Miss Valentine plotted to ambush the Straw Hat Crew, and Reiner prepared to try his ability again after it failed.

  • Broggy killed a dinosaur that attacked him, then welcomed Reiner, Nami, and Usopp and shared his food and stories with them.
  • Reiner brought Broggy several barrels of alcohol, and the group followed him to his base in the forest.
  • Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine joined Mr. 3, who explained the danger posed by the giants and planned to lure the Straw Hat Crew into an ambush.
  • Reiner asked Broggy to let him collect his body, and Broggy agreed without hesitation.
  • Reiner's blue flames failed to collect Broggy, so he withdrew them and prepared to try again.

Ch. 27Haki, Is There a Way?

Reiner and the others joined Broggy and Dorry, two Giants whose hundred-year duel ended in another draw. After the Giants shared drinks with the group, Reiner asked Broggy whether he could use Haki, and Broggy offered to teach him.

  • A volcanic eruption interrupted Reiner's transformation, and Broggy carried Reiner, Nami, and Usopp to meet his old friend Dorry.
  • Broggy and Dorry began their duel while Luffy and Vivi watched from Dorry's shoulder, and Luffy reunited with Reiner and the others.
  • Reiner remembered his hunting bet with Zoro and Sanji and sent Fish-man Undead into the forest to hunt prey.
  • Broggy and Dorry fought until they were exhausted and called the duel a draw, then shared alcohol with Reiner and the others.
  • Reiner asked Broggy whether he could use Haki, and Broggy said he could and asked if Reiner wanted to learn.

Ch. 28Blue Ogre, Red Ogre

Reiner learned the basics of Haki from Dorry and Broggy, then used his Azure Flame to create undead based on the two giants. He discovered that he could make smaller versions, though the first attempts burst apart, and named the successful skeletal warriors Blue Ogre and Red Ogre.

  • Dorry and Broggy explained that they had learned Haki by getting beaten up, and Broggy taught Reiner and the others how it worked.
  • Reiner transformed into his hybrid form and covered Broggy and then Dorry in Azure Flame, explaining that he could create undead.
  • Reiner summoned human-sized undead based on the giants, but they burst apart because their bodies were too powerful.
  • Reiner summoned two slender, nearly five-meter-tall skeletal warriors equipped with shields, spears, and greatswords.
  • Reiner named the undead Blue Ogre and Red Ogre and prepared to test whether they could inherit Haki.

Ch. 29Baroque Works

Reiner and the Straw Hat Crew discovered that Baroque Works assassins were closing in on Vivi, and Luffy attacked Mr.3 while Reiner sent undead to surround the others. Vivi revealed that Baroque Works was led by the Shichibukai Crocodile, leaving Nami and Usopp panicked about facing a powerful enemy.

  • Reiner showed off his Blue Ogre and Red Ogre undead, whose Armament Haki made them powerful enough to surpass Luffy.
  • A Fish-man Undead spotted Mr.3, Mr.5, Miss Valentine, and a child heading toward the crew, then reported their approach to Reiner.
  • Mr.3 confronted the Straw Hat Crew, and Vivi identified him as a Baroque Works chief assassin who had come to kill her.
  • Vivi feared that Igaram had been killed, while Luffy charged at Mr.3 and Reiner sent undead after the other agents hiding in the forest.
  • Vivi revealed that Crocodile, one of the Shichibukai, was Baroque Works' mastermind, alarming Nami and Usopp.

Ch. 30The Lamppost King

Reiner helped defeat Baroque Works agents Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine on Little Garden while Luffy pursued Mr. 3. He returned to the others after killing Mr. 5 and collecting his template.

  • Vivi told the crew that Baroque Works was led by Mr. 0, whose true identity was Crocodile, and Nami complained about the danger of their job.
  • Reiner left Nami, Vivi, and Usopp with the giants and went into the forest as Luffy chased Mr. 3.
  • Reiner used a storm of weapons to kill Miss Valentine, then attacked Mr. 5 with Kuroobi's undead and a spear from Red Ogre.
  • Mr. 5 died after Reiner collected his template, and Reiner returned to the clearing riding a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
  • Usopp laughed when Reiner said Mr. 5 had attacked him with boogers, while Nami told him to stay away.

Ch. 31Where's My Chopper?

Reiner searched for Luffy, found Sanji with the Baroque Works Eternal Pose to Alabasta, and reunited with the crew and the giants after Luffy defeated their enemies. The crew left Little Garden with a direct route to Alabasta, while Reiner spotted Drum Island nearby on the map and planned to visit it.

  • Reiner found Sanji in Mr. 3's wax house after Sanji answered a call from the boss of Baroque Works, and Reiner took the Eternal Pose to Alabasta.
  • Reiner found the battered Luffy, who eagerly climbed onto the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and they returned to the others; Zoro had also wandered back with a triceratops.
  • Nami reassured Vivi that the crew would not blame her, and the group shared a meal with Dorry and Broggy.
  • Broggy told the crew Little Garden's Log Pose would take a year to set, so Reiner showed them the Eternal Pose and checked their sea chart for Drum Island.
  • After the crew prepared to leave, Dorry and Broggy rose to see them off, carrying their rust-covered weapons.

Ch. 32Elbaf Spear

The Straw Hats left Little Garden and survived the Island Eater Goldfish when Dorry and Broggy unleashed their Elbaf Spear, splitting the sea. Later, Reiner joined the crew’s teasing of Zoro and Sanji, then hid from their anger as the Going Merry sailed on.

  • Reiner, Zoro, and Sanji argued over their hunted prey before Dorry and Broggy arrived to see the crew off and urged them to keep going straight ahead.
  • The Going Merry encountered the Island Eater Goldfish, whose open mouth and backflowing seawater threatened to swallow the ship.
  • Reiner trusted Dorry and Broggy to handle the monster, and the giants struck with Elbaf Spear, splitting the sea and propelling the Going Merry safely onward.
  • Dorry and Broggy watched the ship disappear, reflected on the crew, and resumed their duel after the volcano erupted.
  • The crew voted that Reiner’s undead-assisted hunt did not count as cheating, so Zoro and Sanji had to wash their hair while standing on their heads.
  • Reiner photographed Zoro and Sanji, hid outside the ship on a bed of fish-men, and listened as they angrily searched for him.

Ch. 33The Destitute King

As the Going Merry sailed through a storm, Reiner and the crew encountered King Wapol and his transforming ship. They defeated Wapol and his men, then salvaged a small amount of treasure as the ship sank.

  • Reiner trained in the rain and told Zoro his maximum lifting weight had reached nearly 4,000 kilograms.
  • Reiner and Zoro spotted a huge submarine surface and transform into a castle-like ship.
  • King Wapol boarded the Going Merry and demanded a Log Pose or Eternal Pose to return to Drum Island.
  • Sanji, Zoro, and Reiner's undead attacked Wapol's forces, and Reiner shot Wapol in the mouth with a Seastone bullet.
  • Wapol lost consciousness, causing his assembled ship to fall apart, and Reiner gave the recovered treasure to Nami.

Ch. 34Drum Island

Reiner’s crew approached Drum Island after learning about King Wapol’s brutal rule and discovering that Reiner, Zoro, and Sanji had already sunk him. As the ship neared the snowy island, Dalton learned pirates had arrived and led villagers toward the shore to prepare for a fight.

  • Reiner gave Nami a treasure bag, then warned her to prepare warm clothes for their arrival at Drum Island.
  • Vivi explained that Wapol had selected twenty doctors and killed or exiled the others, and Reiner revealed that Wapol was already dead at the bottom of the sea.
  • The crew sailed into Drum Island’s snowy waters while Luffy and Usopp played in the snow.
  • A villager reported the pirates’ arrival to Dalton, who armed himself and led villagers toward the shore.

Ch. 35The Fruit's Restlessness

The Straw Hat Crew landed on Drum Island, where Reiner nearly attacked villagers after his bloodlust grew stronger. Dalton guided them toward the village, and Reiner decided they should visit the island’s doctor to treat Zoro’s wound.

  • Luffy and Zoro braved Drum Island’s freezing shore while Reiner summoned undead to guard the Going Merry.
  • When villagers confronted the ship, Reiner’s Saw Devil and Sword Devil fought Dalton until Reiner stopped them just before the Sword Devil struck.
  • Reiner apologized to Dalton and the villagers, explaining that he felt unusually bloodthirsty after recruiting the Blue Ogre and Red Ogre.
  • Dalton introduced himself and led the Straw Hat Crew toward the village, telling them about Drum Island, its Vitt Liquor, and former King Wapol’s flight.
  • Reiner suggested visiting the island’s lone doctor to treat Zoro’s chest wound, and Nami punched Zoro when he dismissed the injury.

Ch. 36Is He a Genius?

Reiner, Luffy, and Zoro climbed Drum Mountain, where they encountered Chopper and Doctorine. Luffy became excited about Chopper’s transformation and decided to recruit him as a companion.

  • Reiner, Luffy, and Zoro set off to climb Drum Mountain while Usopp stayed behind to help Sanji shop.
  • The three greeted a Picnic Bear, and Luffy tried to make it a companion before Reiner pulled him away.
  • Luffy reached the summit first, while Reiner narrowly beat Zoro to the top.
  • Chopper spotted the climbers, and Luffy chased him after mistaking him for meat.
  • Chopper transformed and struck Luffy into the snow, but Luffy recovered and declared he would bring Chopper aboard.
  • Doctorine came out of the castle, and Chopper ran to hide behind her.

Ch. 37Chopper-beard

Reiner and Luffy tried to recruit Chopper after Dr. Kureha treated Zoro and told them why Chopper feared joining pirates. They set out to bring Chopper aboard, while Kureha remained behind.

  • Reiner paid Dr. Kureha twenty million Beli to treat Zoro, and she took the crew into the castle.
  • While Zoro underwent treatment, Luffy showed Chopper a drawing of their pirate flag and invited him to join them, but Chopper ran off, saying he could not become a pirate.
  • Dr. Kureha explained that Chopper had been rejected by reindeer and humans, and that Hiluluk had taken him in before his death.
  • Luffy decided to make Chopper their partner, and Reiner joined him in starting their plan to capture Chopper.

Ch. 38Sakura Rain

Luffy and Reiner convinced Chopper to join their crew as its doctor, and the group returned to the Going Merry. As they prepared to leave Drum Island, cherry blossoms bloomed across the mountain, bringing Chopper to tears as he remembered Dr. Hiluluk and vowed to become an All-Purpose Cure.

  • Luffy and Reiner told Chopper that monsters could be pirates too, and Chopper accepted their invitation to join the crew.
  • Chopper led Reiner, Luffy, and Zoro down the mountain on a sled, and the villagers of Big Horn saw them flying through the air.
  • The crew welcomed Chopper aboard the Going Merry as their new ship's doctor, while he insisted he was a reindeer rather than a tanuki.
  • Reiner organized the supplies and prepared the ship to depart as snow began falling over Drum Island.
  • Cherry blossoms burst across the mountain, and Chopper vowed to Dr. Hiluluk that he would become a doctor who could cure every disease.

Ch. 39Arrival in Alabasta

The Going Merry’s crew learned that the Alabasta civil war was nearing its decisive battle and continued toward the kingdom. After arriving at Saintine Island, they headed for the port city of Nanohana.

  • Vivi and Nami showed Reiner a newspaper reporting that hundreds of thousands of Royal Army soldiers had joined the rebels, and Reiner warned that the decisive battle was near.
  • The crew reassured Vivi that they would help her in Alabasta, while Zoro dismissed Crocodile as someone they could defeat.
  • Reiner, Zoro, and Sanji trained their Haki by enduring Usopp’s blindfolded strikes, and Usopp asked to join their strength training.
  • Five days after leaving Drum Island, Reiner spotted Saintine Island, and Vivi directed the Going Merry toward Nanohana.

Ch. 40The Sand Kingdom's Prelude Begins

Reiner and the Straw Hats arrived in Nanohana to investigate Baroque Works and the unrest in Alabasta, while Smoker tried to get Marine approval to act. The chapter ended with Portgas D. Ace searching for his younger brother, Monkey D. Luffy.

  • Usopp spotted Baroque Works ships near the port, and Reiner had the crew moor nearby while sending Karoo to deliver Vivi’s letter to Cobra.
  • Luffy disappeared, so Reiner’s group disguised themselves and split up to gather information in Nanohana.
  • Chopper detected a strong smell of gunpowder from a cargo cart, and Reiner decided to follow it.
  • Smoker learned that Marine headquarters had rejected his operation and prepared to contact Aokiji.
  • Ace woke after falling asleep over his meal, then showed the restaurant owner Luffy’s wanted poster and asked if he had seen his younger brother.
