  • Lei Heng begrudgingly rewarded Fang Mo with five hundred taels and three days of rest, while Fang Mo hinted that the fiend had mentioned the Ministry of War and an armory.
  • After Fang Mo left, Lei Heng rejected a plan to kill him and ordered Shadow to publicize Fang Mo’s victory so powerful figures would take notice of him.
  • Fang Mo reassured Yan Wangchou and Qian Dagui, then chose to visit Yihong Pavilion to seek information rather than return to the barracks.

Ch. 62Officers at the door: a vice raid or a little music?

Fang Mo led officers from the Punishment Department to Yihong Pavilion, where Mama Feng expected a shakedown but instead recognized her troublesome former customer. • Fang Mo denied having the evidence and told Zhao Gang to leave unless he had a proper arrest warrant.
  • Zhao Gang accused Fang Mo of embezzling military equipment and ordered his soldiers to seize him, killing him if he resisted.
  • Li Mingyue arrived with the Demon Suppression Division and rebuked Zhao Gang for trying to arrest someone outside his authority.

Ch. 68Deals and Bargaining Chips

Li Mingyue shielded Fang Mo from Zhao Gang’s attempted arrest, and Fang Mo publicly mocked the accusation until the Ministry of War withdrew. In a private teahouse, Li Mingyue pressed Fang Mo about the Cannibal Rakshasa and her accomplices, but he demanded that she exchange information with him first.

  • Li Mingyue accused Zhao Gang of trying to silence Fang Mo over the Ministry of War’s possible connection to the sinister formation in Liuxi Village.
  • Fang Mo produced a piece of pork head meat as supposed evidence of his theft, provoking the crowd’s laughter and forcing Zhao Gang to withdraw his men.

  • At a secluded teahouse, Li Mingyue asked Fang Mo where the Sandalwood Box was and whether the Cannibal Rakshasa had accomplices.

Ch. 69Cold Tea, Heated Words: No Red Sleeves at Red Sleeve Beckons

Ch. 70An Uninvited Guest and Barefaced Nonsense

Fang Mo bluffed Eunuch Liu into backing down by claiming he possessed a ledger implicating Li Fuguo, then learned from Liu’s reaction that such a ledger may once have existed. Li Mingyue warned Fang Mo that he had made an enemy of Li Fuguo and ordered him to stay within her sight.

  • Eunuch Liu brought Fang Mo food and ten thousand taels in banknotes, then demanded to know where the Sandalwood Box was.
  • Fang Mo claimed the box contained a ledger and threatened to expose its contents if he was harmed, making Eunuch Liu withdraw.
  • After Eunuch Liu left, Fang Mo realized his bluff had revealed that a damaging ledger might once have been kept in the Liuxi Village cellar.
  • Li Mingyue emerged from hiding, questioned Fang Mo about the ledger, and arranged to meet him at the Demon Suppression Division’s rear gate.
  • Fang Mo offered Li Mingyue half the banknotes for the Demon Suppression Division; she refused, warned him about Li Fuguo, and told him not to leave her sight.

Ch. 71Three monks without water, sitting alone in a precarious tower

  • Fang Mo met Li Mingyue in a back alley, and she led him through a hidden entrance to the Demon Suppression Division's Scripture Pavilion.
  • Li Mingyue used a Jade Token to open the pavilion's guarded stone doors and explained that Fang Mo could access only its first three floors.
  • Li Mingyue warned Fang Mo that the third floor held dangerous cultivation methods, but he dismissed her concern and chose to explore the pavilion.
  • Fang Mo stopped on the first floor and read the complete Martial Scripture: General Outline, becoming increasingly troubled by its explanation of Organ Refining.

Ch. 72Bite off more than you can chew? I have a Taotie stomach

Fang Mo learned that Organ Refining required inviting dangerous Dirty Gods into the body, while Li Mingyue warned him that pursuing more gods could ruin his potential and life. He followed her to the sealed third level of the Demon Suppression Division’s collection, where he became interested in an inheritance from a Demon Lord.

  • Fang Mo questioned Li Mingyue about the organ-refining method and learned that she had perfected all five organs and their divine powers.

  • Fang Mo used Prison Suppressor to extract the Netherworld Ghost Eye’s essence and erase the remnant soul’s intelligence.
  • Fang Mo swallowed the ghost eye, endured its pain, and gained spectral vision that let him see through Li Mingyue and detect a Yinhun Whistle spying nearby.
  • Li Mingyue was shocked that Fang Mo had devoured a Ghostly Being, and he asked her to describe the incident as him suppressing its Ghost Qi.
  • Li Mingyue warned Fang Mo that Li Fuguo and the palace could still target him, but Fang Mo said he was ready to fight them.
  • Fang Mo sensed that the first-floor door of Prison Suppressor’s Black Tower had loosened after absorbing the Ghost Path essence, then left Li Mingyue behind.
