Background / History

The Black Fiend Sect first operates around Ren Family Town by seeking Ren Weiyong's unusually powerful Yin Corpse. Its disciples remotely control corpses, deploy walking corpses and Black-Furred Zombies, and attack during the attempted relocation of Ren Weiyong's grave. A captured rogue cultivator identifies the group as the Black Fiend Sect, which collects sinister objects and powerful zombies for a wider conspiracy. 7 8

After the Ren Family Town operation fails, the sect establishes a temporary stronghold in Blackwater Town. Its members attempt to draw out an Earth Yin Vein to refine an Evil Corpse Pill, a resource intended for the Holy Maiden's secret cultivation or the awakening of an ancient existence. Mo Yuan defeats the cell and learns that the main altar lies within a southwestern ancient-tomb cluster. 10

At its underground headquarters, the sect maintains a blood pool filled with bones and vengeful souls, where hundreds of cultists channel evil power into the nascent Evil Corpse Pill. The sect leader and Holy Maiden oversee the process, while the main altar also drains an imprisoned dragon soul. Mo Yuan later frees the dragon soul, kills the Corpse King Guardian, destroys the blood pool and altar, and forces the Holy Maiden and Red Robe Elder to escape. 11 13 15

The sect then expands its activity to the Provincial City, where it collects living souls to refine the Ten Thousand Souls Banner in the abandoned Profound Yin Mine. Mo Yuan and Uncle Nine disrupt the refinement and destroy the banner's formation core; the Holy Maiden escapes through the Blood Shadow Escape technique. 19 20 21

The Black Fiend Sect subsequently allies with Netherworld in Burial Demon Valley. Together, they search for the Yin Fiend Spring, attempt to reform the Ten Thousand Souls Banner, prepare a blood sacrifice to open an Ancient Demon Ruins entrance, and seek the “key” needed to release a sealed ancient demon known as the Sacred One. 27 35 39 42 44
