Extracting Kara's Abilities

"Kara enrolled two months ago, but she's missed nearly half that time!"

"If this happens again, I'll expel Kara directly, even if all her teachers say she's exceptionally intelligent!"

A stern woman's voice tore into him over the phone.

Li Ang could only force a smile. "Principal Juliette, this will absolutely be the last time. Kara suddenly fell ill."

"Mr. Li Ang, can't you come up with a different excuse? You've used illness several times already!"

"..."

Among the teachers, Kara had already been labeled as frail and sickly.

But the problem was that whenever she attended class, Kara looked perfectly healthy.

At most, she was a little gloomy and quiet.

After much pleading, Li Ang finally managed to get Kara a leave of absence.

After hanging up, he went to Kara's room and found her lying on the bed with a pillow pressed over her ears.

But it was clearly useless. Her eyes were wide open.

Li Ang was tired too. "Kara, if you can't sleep, get up and eat something."

At a time like this, all Li Ang could do was keep her company a little more.

Perhaps the most important thing was to take her somewhere with no one around.

With no other choice, Li Ang called a nearby shop and had several Tacos delivered.

When the delivery arrived, Kara saw that it was Tacos rather than Noodles, and a faint smile finally appeared on her serious face.

"Thank you, Godfather."

Li Ang ate a Taco himself as well.

After she finished eating, he stroked her soft golden hair. "Rest well for the next few days."

Kara nodded.

Back in his own room, Li Ang closed the door, not daring to make too much noise, then quickly lay down and went to sleep.

He hadn't slept all night. He wasn't made of Body of Steel, and he was already exhausted.

But just then, a sight appeared before his eyes that instantly made him wide awake.

[Name: Li Ang.]

Li Ang was no longer sleepy at all.

He had obtained the Golden Finger months ago, and now he could finally reap the rewards. Li Ang felt that his efforts had not been in vain.

So, without much hesitation, Li Ang chose to extract.

In his view, anything related to a draw depended on luck.

If your luck was bad, no amount of superstition would help.

Kara had too many abilities for Li Ang to take them all in at once.

The sun granted Kryptonians enhancements in every aspect. Nearly every ability one could think of came with superpowers.

And Li Ang could extract one of them.

For a moment, he wanted all of them.

Physique encompassed many things—strength, speed, endurance, and more.

In an instant, Li Ang no longer felt sleepy. He even felt as if he could snap the Bed board in half. His previously exhausted body seemed to have become hard as iron.

Opening his eyes, he saw that the world seemed magnified before him. He could clearly make out tiny black specks on the ceiling!

And his other senses had been enhanced as well...

Unfortunately, Super Physique did not include things like Heat Vision or Super Hearing...

But then he remembered that Kara didn't have Heat Vision yet, and Li Ang felt better about it.

As an Old Father, he had to leave his daughter some dignity.

Besides, the most important thing for getting by in Gotham was having a strong body.

Otherwise, when facing Bane, who was always breaking people's backs, or Batman, who claimed never to kill but only beat people into cripples—

A good body was essential!

But on second thought, with people like Joker and Riddler in Gotham, intelligence was important too.

All one could say was that Gotham was brutally unforgiving, forcing people to develop in every aspect.

Still, having it was better than not having it. Li Ang rolled excitedly around on his bed for a long while, but since he couldn't test his abilities at home, he eventually fell into a deep sleep.

Kara in the next room heard everything clearly.

Because Li Ang was the closest person to her, she forced herself not to listen to Godfather's thoughts. Even so, she could still clearly hear the sounds of him rolling around.

She didn't understand what Godfather had to be so excited about.

It was only after quite a while that she heard Godfather's breathing as he slept.

Kara, meanwhile, couldn't help thinking about all the little moments she had shared with Li Ang.

Because she had already been over ten years old when she came to Earth.

Children over ten already had a certain understanding of the world, as well as their own worldview.

On top of that, Kara had personally experienced the Destruction of Krypton and still retained memories and habits from her life on Krypton, so she initially had a very difficult time adapting to Earth.

It was only because Li Ang had been so patient that he helped Kara integrate into life on Earth.

Godfather taught her Earth's languages, not just English but also the Chinese spoken in his hometown.

Godfather cooked for her himself, though in Kara's opinion, she had already grown sick of eating noodles.

Godfather also played games with her, making her feel as though he were family.

That was why she gradually came to accept Li Ang. In Kara's eyes, Godfather was her only family on Earth.

Even so, Kara still occasionally thought of everything on Krypton. After all, that had been her homeland.

It could be said that Kara was completely different from her cousin, "Superman."

Clark had come to Earth with no memories of Krypton at all. From childhood to adulthood, he had always regarded himself as an Earthling.

But Kara found that very difficult to do.

Memories from childhood often influenced a person for their entire life.

Especially after she discovered her own unusual abilities, she increasingly felt that she was different from Earthlings and found it hard to truly fit in.

Under Li Ang's guidance, she could only cautiously hide her abilities and disguise herself as an ordinary person.

Because if she revealed even a little of her strength, the people around her might see her as a monster.

For Kara, that was exhausting.

It seemed she was destined to be different from everyone else.

As she thought about it, Kara began to feel sleepy as well. Perhaps because her drowsiness was deepening, the noisy sounds around her gradually faded and no longer affected her.

Kara knew this was because she was gradually gaining control over her abilities.

Just like Super Vision and Super Breath before.

When they had first appeared, her eyes could almost see through any substance. Whenever she looked at someone, she could clearly see their bones and internal organs.

But hadn't she mastered them afterward?

So Kara paid no attention to the sounds fading away and simply fell asleep.

No matter what, she would eventually master these abilities. She just didn't know why they had appeared in the first place.

Could it be simply because she was a Kryptonian?
