The Flames Die Out

The fire dragon let out a long-overdue roar. After realizing its fire attacks were useless, it stopped waiting to breathe fire again and swooped down, claws bared.

There was nothing to fear now. I tried to fight it with my sword, but before I could even reach it, a wave of heat washed over me!

Its body was extremely hot to the touch. We just hadn't noticed while it was surrounded by flames. I hurriedly dodged, and Riven also slipped away from its claws.

The fire dragon didn't stop. This time, it landed without taking off again and spread its wings to lunge at us. Its scorching breath made my whole body feel miserable!

I swung my sword at its wing, but unfortunately, I couldn't cut it. The tremendous force sent me flying far back, and I nearly fell off the stone platform.

After two failed attacks, the fire dragon flapped its wings, trying to take off again. Just then, Jarvan roared, "You're not getting away!"

He thrust his spear into the ground and shook open a massive pit. The stone platform had already been cracked by the fireballs, and Jarvan's blow sent chunks of white stone flying up to bury the fire dragon.

Jarvan himself was buried along with it.

Riven and I were already at the edge of the platform. The shock of the impact sent us tumbling down. If not for the thick grass, we would have been badly hurt by the fall.

I scrambled to my feet and saw that the altar had been utterly destroyed. Its surroundings had risen into a tall ridge, like a white wall. It was Jarvan's Earth Shatter!

The fire dragon wasn't going to be crushed to death, of course. It struggled to poke its head out, its body sizzling. It
