Background

Gu Du entered Immortal Path during its first player batch. He created his character under the ID “Gu Du,” declined to alter his appearance, and was immediately identified by Ye Yu as the group’s strongest observer and likely a technical player. 4 5

Before Immortal Path, he was known as Little Melon Worm, the universally recognized top player of the old online game Divine Beast World. His defining strength was exceptional movement; he once spent eighteen hours defeating a boss without taking damage. His rivalry with Qiqi included two famous PK matches, with Qiqi winning their second encounter and causing him to retire for three years. 330 368

Personality

Gu Du is observant, analytical, and decisive. He studies unfamiliar systems and opponents closely, whether calculating a boss’s attack intervals or identifying the implications of a new enlightenment method. 5 329 550

He carries considerable confidence in his own ability, but he can recognize when that confidence has wavered. His frustration at being the only prominent player without a hidden route made him hesitate before entering the Thousand Layer Tower; after the Bureau Chief’s encouragement, he deliberately regained his composure and challenged it. 325

As a leader, Gu Du is practical and demanding. He distributes rewards by contribution, assigns roles according to individual strengths, and openly rebukes Enlightenment Players who lack the confidence to pursue Sainthood. 74 640 608

Abilities & Skills

Command and Battlefield Planning

Gu Du is regarded as Immortal Path’s foremost commander, able to coordinate large numbers of players who willingly follow his orders. 18 65

  • Divided the defense against Ma Baoguo into trap, poison, tank, and reserve squads. 18
  • Directed the assault on Zhuang Bifan by assigning tanks, ranged players, healers, and monster-clearing teams. 72
  • Anticipated an enemy flanking attack during Kong Fu’s duel and deployed guards to the back mountain and Wangfu Cliff. 633
  • Reversed the Immortal Palace’s defensive posture and organized a multi-pronged assault on the enemy camp. 640

Combat Analysis and Movement

Gu Du’s personal combat style emphasizes precise movement, endurance, and constant analysis of enemy patterns.

  • Calculated Song Hai’s attack range, angle, area, and intervals well enough to evade without taking damage. 329
  • Used the “Big Z” movement technique to evade Tao Dang’s hurricane attack while gradually reducing the boss’s health. 330
  • Achieved a no-damage clear of the Thousand Layer Tower’s first floor. 334
  • Relied on repeated weak-point strikes to one-shot monsters even after restarting at level 1. 555

Sword Dao

After reincarnating, Gu Du chose the Sword Cultivator route and built his new progression around precise, decisive weak-point attacks. 555

  • Triggered the Path of Insight through a ten-thousand-hit weak-point combo. 555
  • Obtained Nine Swords of Solitude and the hidden title One Sword Breaks Ten Thousand Moves. 555
  • Achieved enlightenment through insight; Nine Swords of Solitude advanced into Nirvana Sword, while his title upgraded to One Sword Breaks Ten Thousand Laws. 558
  • Can sense sword intent and used it to predict Canfeng Xunjiu’s imminent enlightenment. 561

Thousand Layer Tower Achievements

Gu Du’s first-floor clear triggered several achievement-based buffs alongside Erlang Shen’s inheritance. 334

  • Erlang Shen’s inheritance — obtained by clearing the first floor without damage. 334
  • Kidney Fighter — +500% stamina and endurance. 334
  • You Can’t Hit Me — +500% evasion. 334
  • An Iron Rod Ground Down to a Needle — +500% attack power and inflicts bleeding on attacks. 334

Former Myriad Law Cultivation

On his original character, Gu Du trained a broad range of skills rather than specializing. Maxing them led to the Master of All Skills-style “Myriad Law Cultivation” breakthrough, but he considered that route a dead end for higher advancement and deleted the character to start over. 550 555

Relationships

  • Ye Yu — Palace Lord and quest-giver. Ye Yu relies on Gu Du as an indispensable command-type Great God and selected him for major events; Gu Du’s early cultivation achievements were also synchronized to Ye Yu. 33 65
  • Bureau Chief — strategic ally and advisor from the War Strategy Bureau. The two regularly exchange tactical assessments, support one another’s factions, and organize joint meetings for Enlightenment Players. 140 352 608
  • Bao Lao Er — early companion and Great God Alliance member. They fought together in the Ma Baoguo dungeon and later coordinated among the elite player faction. 34 35 203
  • King Grey Wolf — early companion known for poison-based combat. Gu Du trusted him to open the first dungeon chest before Chi Tang Ya Bu Teng was identified as the better choice for boss loot. 35 73
  • Li Taibai — fellow elite and Sword Cultivator. Li Taibai retained confidence in Gu Du’s ability even when other players dismissed him as merely a commander. 325
  • Ru Mu Xie Quan Tong Le — ally and frequent discussion partner. Gu Du explains his views on Sword Cultivators and enlightenment to him. 561 562
  • Dongfang Mu Ji Ba — former friend and respected rival. Their relationship cooled after the Battle of Mijie split their elite teams, but Dongfang still admired Gu Du’s Thousand Layer Tower achievements. 335
  • Ning Qi / Qiqi — former Divine Beast World rival. Their past PK matches shaped Gu Du’s three-year retirement, though they initially met again in Immortal Path without recognizing one another. 368

Story Role / Major Arcs

Early Immortal Path and Ma Baoguo

Gu Du rapidly became one of the first players to reach Qi Refining Second Layer, then assumed command when Ma Baoguo invaded. He deployed the players’ defenses, led the response against Ma Baoguo’s Divine Power, and tied for second place in the event’s contribution rankings. 10 18 23 26

He later led the first successful clear of the Assassinate Ma Baoguo dungeon. The rewards from that run allowed him to become Immortal Path’s first Foundation Establishment player. 34 35

Zhuang Bifan and Mijie Events

Ye Yu chose Gu Du to command the campaign against Zhuang Bifan because of his flawless record in prior Divine Wars and his prestige among the players. Gu Du coordinated the large-scale boss battle, managed the post-battle reward distribution, and maintained order after Chi Tang Ya Bu Teng’s extraordinary loot drop. 65 72 73 74

During the Mijie event, he led the main player force to the final boss and commanded alongside the Bureau Chief and Miao Nei Bu Shi Miao Nei. 139 140

Great God Alliance

Gu Du founded the Great God Alliance, the fourth player sect, on Purple Pole Peak. Its creation demonstrated that his influence came not from spending money but from the prestige he had accumulated through repeated command of major battles. 179

Thousand Layer Tower

Initially discouraged by his lack of a hidden route, Gu Du entered the Thousand Layer Tower after encouragement from the Bureau Chief. His no-damage first-floor clear earned Erlang Shen’s inheritance and multiple hidden achievement buffs, restoring his standing among the player base. 325 334 335

He later dominated the tower’s clear-record rankings, breaking records across multiple floors. 405

Reincarnation and Enlightenment

After reaching True Immortal through Myriad Law Cultivation, Gu Du discarded his original character rather than accept the limitations he saw in the Master of All Skills route. He restarted as a Sword Cultivator, triggered the Path of Insight through weak-point attacks, and achieved enlightenment at an unusually fast pace. 550 555 558

He subsequently shared a public analysis of possible enlightenment routes, while withholding deeper insights in order to motivate veteran allies to progress. 559

Battle General Mode

When the Immortal Palace shifted to player-led military operations, Gu Du analyzed enemy combat strength through duels, selected suitable fighters for probing battles, and prepared defenses against infiltration. He later ordered the player forces to abandon passive defense and attack the enemy camp directly. 629 631 633 640
