Background / History
Before the apocalypse, Qi Tong lived under the same abusive father as her older brother, Qi Xing. Their relationship became strained by Qi Xing's strictness and frequent arguments. After one such conflict, she left home with money and clothes; Qi Xing reported her missing a month later, but only learned that she had left the city by bus. 108
Qi Tong later awakened as a dual-element Ability User. During the apocalypse, she formed a close bond with the Mutated Species Su Yayun, whom she regarded with unusual care and protectiveness. She also became an important figure in a residential area, repeatedly bringing back supplies and distributing them among its vulnerable survivors. 111 116 117
Her past brought her into conflict with Chasing Moon Base. She spent time with Pei Yuemu at Hurricane Base, was later wanted after beating Pei Yuemu, and revealed that she had killed Pei Chixuan's father. Jiang Zhaosu identified Qi Tong as the villain known in the original novel as the “Nether King.” 117 119
Qi Tong reunited with Qi Xing after stealing Jiang Zhaosu's vehicle. Although she initially fought him and resisted his vines, she broke down upon recognizing her brother. 111 114
Following Su Yayun's abduction, Qi Tong lost control of her powers and entered a near-berserk state. During the ensuing battle with Pei Yuemu's group, she was severely injured while An Yudie protected her; An Yudie later died from her injuries. Qi Tong retrieved An Yudie's remains and developed a lasting desire for revenge against the Pei family. 139 142 150 151
Qi Tong was later grievously wounded again, including a nearly severed neck. Qi Xing used his spatial ability to locate her and sewed her wound, expressing regret over his treatment of her. 224 229
Appearance
Qi Tong strongly resembles Qi Xing, though her younger face, taller stature, and flamboyant bearing distinguish her from him. 112 309
- Tall and slender; later described as over 1.8 meters in height. 309
- Platinum-blonde hair ends. 260 309
- Small dark marks at the ends of her eyebrows and corners of her lips, left by former eyebrow and lip piercings. 309
- Had an ice-blue short haircut before the apocalypse. 315
- Her appearance is notably youthful and attractive; Jiang Zhaosu compares her emotional expression to Qi Xing's. 114
Personality
Qi Tong is proud, blunt, and quick to resort to violence when provoked. She wastes few words in combat and attacks with a ruthlessness Jiang Zhaosu compares to Qi Xing's. 112
Beneath her rebellious temper, she is compassionate and unusually protective of people she considers her own. She supplies and remains with a residential area's survivors despite the danger, protects Su Yayun, and is deeply destabilized by Su Yayun's disappearance. 116 117 133 139
She is also emotionally direct and inexperienced with the larger political consequences of her actions. Qi Xing repeatedly considers her idealistic or naive, while Qi Tong reacts with disgust when she learns how Crystal Core Weapons are made. 117 119
