Background

Great Yan was a mortal empire of the Divine State, spanning hundreds of millions of miles and ruling ninety-nine states. Despite this scale, it occupied only a corner of the Divine State’s central lands and was considered insignificant beside the sacred lands, Primordial families, and greater powers of the wider world. 55

Great Wind Snow State, where Sun Yu first came into conflict with Great Yan, was its smallest and spiritually poorest state. The Imperial Court regarded it as a remote exile land, even though Divine Sea Realm cultivators were treated there as supreme figures. 55

The dynasty’s central territory possessed a far deeper foundation: Dharma Aspect Realm cultivators were numerous, its imperial capital had walls tens of thousands of feet high, and it maintained vast armored armies and flying-ship fleets. 55

History

Conflict with Sun Yu

Great Yan first pursued Sun Yu after he destroyed a provincial official seal, killed the Martial Marquis Lu Yuan, and massacred tens of thousands of Heavenly Punishment Guards. 55 62

The dynasty sent its three leading Martial Marquises—Lie Fentian, Nie Fengxing, and Lei Zhenting—to intercept the Myriad Beast Sect’s treasure ship at the Heavenly Chasm Thunder Pool. They initially offered Sun Yu a Martial Marquis position if he submitted, but he refused. 61 63

Sun Yu killed Lie Fentian directly, then destroyed Nie Fengxing and Lei Zhenting, their Golden Dragon Ships, and their accompanying Imperial Army with the Annihilation World Suppressing Seal. 65

Great Yan later deployed Imperial Guards and its Ninth Prince, Song Mufeng, to compete with the Tuoba Clan for the Primordial Demon Bone. Song Mufeng was subsequently killed by Sun Yu, who also obtained the Great Yan imperial family’s Nine Extremes Imperial Dao Opening Scripture. 68 76

The dynasty continued its pursuit by sending the Red-robed Envoy, Tongtian Patriarch’s disciple, to capture Sun Yu after his Grotto-heaven breakthrough. 82

Great Gan Invasion

The Great Gan Empress recruited Sun Yu as King Wei and Grand Marshal, granting him command of a million heavy armored cavalry to conquer Great Yan. Sun Yu accepted because Great Yan’s territory and treasury could expand his newly formed Grotto-heaven. 86

Great Yan assembled a million-man border defense under its emperor and Tongtian Patriarch. The emperor activated the national defense formation, manifesting Great Yan’s golden dragon of national destiny against the Great Gan army. 87

Sun Yu halted the dragon alone, tore off both horns, and destroyed its head, causing the dynasty’s national fortune to backlash. He then shattered the Imperial Army’s formation with Prison Suppressing Gravity, killing hundreds of thousands of soldiers. 87 88

Tongtian Patriarch invoked the Nine Flames Heaven Pagoda, but Sun Yu destroyed the artifact with a single arrow. The Great Gan Shadow Dragon Guards then beheaded Tongtian Patriarch. 88

Fall

With its national formation broken, greatest protector dead, and army defeated, Great Yan’s emperor offered its treasury, territory, and royal family’s submission to Great Gan. 89

Sun Yu rejected the surrender. He used the Annihilation World Suppressing Seal to crush the emperor, royal family, imperial chariot, and surrender edict into the ground. 89

The Great Gan army subsequently conquered Great Yan, and its imperial capital fell without resistance. Sun Yu entered the national treasury and absorbed its accumulated resources. 89
