Background / History
Sun Yu subdues the Primordial Thunder Swallowing Beast with a master-servant contract, making her life and death subject to his will. He names the dragon-headed, leopard-bodied beast Azi after her long purple fur; although she initially protests the name, she immediately submits to his warning 61. Azi becomes his mount soon afterward, carrying him away from the treasure ship and continuing to follow his commands without hesitation 62 63.
Azi accompanies Sun Yu aboard the treasure ship and receives a Dharma Aspect Core from him, advancing to the Dharma Aspect Realm Great Demon. Their relationship is one of direct support: Sun Yu supplies cultivation resources, while Azi remains close despite his increasingly dangerous cultivation methods 67 76.
After Sun Yu kills four late-stage Dharma Aspect Realm opponents, he feeds their corpses to Azi, prompting another evolution. Azi subsequently serves as his mount during his journey into Great Gan territory and toward Fallen Star Lake 79.
Azi carries Sun Yu through Great Yan's battlefields, Central Soil, and the World Severing Platform. She charges through defensive restrictions, crosses abysses, and remains steady as his mount during confrontations with the Three Great Sacred Lands and their Grotto-Heaven Realm guards 90 93 99 101 102.
Azi follows Sun Yu through the World Severing Platform and into the starry sky. At the Asura Divine Temple, she refuses to enter the secret chamber because of the intense malevolent aura from the Asura Blood Spring; Sun Yu warns her not to consume its essence blood. She instead evolves her bloodline by devouring ancient remains, becoming encased in a Purple Lightning Blood Cocoon 109 110 111.
During the Three Talents Heaven-Refining Array attack, Azi is severely injured while attempting to warn and protect Sun Yu. She blocks the entrance to the volcanic crater despite the formation's assault, and Sun Yu rescues her after destroying the array, placing her in his Extreme Dao Grotto-heaven to heal 132 133. Nourished by the grotto-heaven's World Origin, she later recovers and grows stronger 136.
Azi is captured and injured by Heavenly Pole Sacred Land cultivators outside the Heaven Burying Abyss. Sun Yu defeats her captors, rescues her, and heals her injuries 141 154. While traveling toward the Ancient Ji Family's great world, Azi helps Sun Yu infiltrate the Ji Clan's ancestral grounds. She devours the remains of ten Heavenly Human Realm patrol guards, then later consumes Ji Family guardian beasts on a dead star 158 166.
