One month later...

Inside Senator Padmé Amidala's suite on the surface of Coruscant—a top-floor residence in one of the planet's buildings, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a beautiful view—Padmé was angrily packing her things while loudly complaining to Jar Jar Binks, the other senator from Naboo, and her visiting guest, Anakin:

"You saw it!"

"I went to all that trouble to come to Coruscant this time, and I still couldn't accomplish a thing!"

Watching a dishwashing hover droid dutifully replace the bulletproof glass outside the window, removing the old pane, cracked like a spiderweb and marred by a nasty bullet hole, Padmé felt her fleeting desire to stay on Coruscant die away once more.

The ugly bullet hole and the damaged floor-to-ceiling window being replaced were the result of a bounty hunter trying to assassinate her from a distance last night...

The specially made bullet had come from somewhere hundreds of meters away and easily pierced the specially reinforced glass. It had nearly hit her as she came out of the shower, wiping her wet hair! Fortunately, a female Jedi had been there. She'd sensed the danger in advance and cut the incoming bullet in half with a single stroke of her lightsaber, narrowly saving Padmé from the assassination attempt.

Although Padmé had escaped unharmed, the female Jedi protecting her had injured her shoulder and abdomen in the process. Word was, she'd nearly died.

So, to stop putting others at risk and prevent the Jedi protecting her from suffering more casualties, Padmé had decided to heed the Jedi Council's advice and return to Naboo for the time being. The Galactic Senate's vote was over, and she no longer served any purpose on Coruscant. Returning to Naboo was clearly safer than staying here.
