Kratos thrust forward with all his might, opening a gash in the Flame Giant Bear. More and more Shadowflame poured wildly out through the wound, instantly burning through two layers of the skin protected by divine power on his hand and exposing the charred muscle beneath.
Fortunately, empowered by the divine power of countless Olympians, his body—which had nearly been cooked through to the bone—quickly recovered at an astonishing rate.

The skin that had just healed was marked with three more charred claw wounds across his chest, still giving off a faint, meaty aroma. Grimacing in pain and roaring, he had no choice but to use the other Blade of Chaos in his hand to block another swipe from the bear.

And so, the two fought back and forth for over thirty minutes, until Kratos realized he was completely unable to get the better of the Flame Giant Bear, which only grew more spirited as the fight went on (it was just playing around). He was about to change targets and go after some Chaos god when his opponent suddenly tackled him to the ground, then slammed its huge, flaming rear end down hard on his lower back.
