Today was another perfect day.
After last night's enjoyable racket, Annie had slept incredibly well with her mind at ease. She'd slept straight through until early morning, only waking when a heartrending scream from the bald man next door startled her.
So, unusually, she didn't sleep in. She got up, washed and changed, then came out to her garden to enjoy a rare and precious breakfast in the morning sunlight.

Annie waved to a bald man on the second floor of the apartment building next door, which was separated from her home by only a low wall.
At the moment, he was standing in front of a mirror, sniffling and crying as he pulled sharp little spines out of his hands, face, and chest.
"I..."
"I'm not doing well at all."
At Annie's greeting, Saitama turned stiffly toward her and showed the little girl downstairs his tearful, bearded-looking face. Then he stiffly turned back around.
"Eek!"

Annie had only needed one glance to figure out what that heartrending scream that had woken her was all about.

"I didn't!"

Saitama couldn't get the rest out. He grimaced and sucked in a sharp breath, then kept plucking out the tiny spines from his cheeks, chin, lips, and nose. Only after his face was smooth again did he finally manage to relax a little.
There were still plenty of spines in his arms and chest, but they were much better than the ones in his face, which had made every word send a fresh stab of pain through him. At least now he could finish a sentence.
