In the royal city of Leyndell, no one knew what had happened, but the tense atmosphere here had grown increasingly oppressive.
Following the corridor beside the Grand Cathedral of the Erdtree all the way toward the rear, after a long while, the fearsome Dragonclaw Tree Sentinel finally rode slowly toward the empty Elden Throne once more. He carried a grotesque dragon-claw battle-axe carved from an Ancient Dragon's claw on his right shoulder and a dragon-claw shield, likewise carved from an Ancient Dragon's claw, in his left hand. His armor looked as though it were made from one dragon rib after another, covered in countless dragon faces, and he wore a matching Dragonclaw helm. Even his warhorse was clad in similar barding, making the entire sight horrifyingly fierce.
As had happened countless times before, the Elden Throne was still completely empty. No one sat upon it. There was only a crown placed there in lonely silence.
Likewise, around the royal court, the Leyndell knights in gleaming, luxurious golden armor still wore crowned helms representing the glory of the Erdtree's guardians. Holding golden greatshields and crimson-tasseled spears, they stood guard on both sides of the court.

More leaves had fallen from the Erdtree, spreading into a thick golden layer across the royal court. It looked dazzling, but the Tree Sentinel knew that so many fallen leaves were not a good sign.
But he had no solution either. Ever since the Elden Ring had shattered, the Erdtree had declined day by day, and the Lands Between were deteriorating along with it. No one knew when this would finally end.
But the Dragonclaw Tree Sentinel had neither the time nor the inclination to dwell on such complicated matters now.
