With the efforts of John, the head of the Engineering Department, Isaac the robot, and the others, Ed finally managed to temporarily restore communications and monitoring throughout the Orville by using backup power and various methods. He quickly informed the surviving crew throughout the ship of what had happened via broadcast, ordering those who were incapable of fighting to find nearby places to take shelter or return to their rooms and lock their doors.

Through the communications system, Ed gathered and organized at least a hundred soldiers and officers into several armed assault teams. Before the situation could deteriorate further and become completely uncontrollable, he had Tara, Petus, and little Annie—who had nothing to do and was bored out of her mind—use the monitoring data and the weapons' stun mode to swiftly wipe out the mutant crew monsters occupying the various decks and the energy room. After putting control restraints on all of them, they locked them up.
Then, after they had completely subdued the strange monsters aboard the ship and stopped the chaos from spreading, the crew finally emerged from their hiding places and began nervously dealing with the permissions crisis caused by Lieutenant General Christie, who had already transformed into the leader of the monsters.
Ed was not worried that more monsters were hiding somewhere aboard the ship. As the captain, he knew better than anyone exactly how many people were on his vessel. As long as they counted the surviving crew and passengers, then added the number of captured monsters, everything would be fine as long as the numbers matched. There was no need to keep repeatedly combing through and searching the entire Orville.
