Still inside the same sleigh, pulled by several snow horses and racing across the icy plains, Edgin, Simon, Holga, and Doric had left the Icewind Dale prison without delay after obtaining that important information. They were now traveling along the Ironflow Road toward the Northern Path.
As it turned out, they had only now realized that crossing the frozen plains was much faster than traveling over ordinary grasslands and roads.
So, in three days at most, they would reach Luskan, at the crossroads near Blackford. From there, they could head south along the main road, pass Neverwinter Port, and arrive at Neverwinter!
If they traveled the whole way by carriage, they could make it back to Neverwinter in a week at most.
Since they had already had their fill of Icewind Dale's frozen wastes and howling winds on the way there, none of the four felt like opening a window to look outside on the way back. They simply huddled in the carriage, each wrapped in a blanket, dozing or staring into space.

"If only there were a spell that could teleport us straight back to Neverwinter. Wouldn't that be great?"
After sitting in the rushing, gently rocking carriage for who knew how long—maybe a day, maybe half a day—Doric, who had been dozing with her head against Simon's shoulder, suddenly stretched and sighed.

Holga, who had been leaning against Edgin, was the one who woke at Doric's sigh. She chuckled and teased her:
"Don't even dream about it!"
"Didn't Simon say so himself?"
"That teleportation staff of his can only take you half a mile at most. It can help us get past some rough stretches or cliffs, but you're hoping to teleport all the way back to Neverwinter?"
