Although they had no idea why Annie was so rich—or how she could be so willful that she could buy every remaining ticket and charter the whole airship—they were happy to accept it now that she had solved the problem herself. Since Annie didn't need the three of them to pool their money to buy a ticket, Ash, Misty, and Brock simply carried the huge pile of things Ash had just bought and headed toward a giant airship port on the outskirts of town, chatting and laughing as they went.

When the three of them reached the entrance to the spacious but deserted airship port, they saw the enormous thing inside. The giant airship looked dilapidated and decrepit, most of the paint had peeled off its vast gasbag, and its massive gondola exposed a rust-covered metal shell. It was tethered to the ground by equally rusty steel cables, looking like a forgotten giant. The three of them were completely dumbfounded.
"I have to ask..."
"Are you sure that thing can still fly?"
After a long while, Misty, holding Togepi, finally asked anxiously.
Her eyes remained fixed on the enormous airship parked in the distance, as if she were trying to examine it more closely and figure out whether it was really the vehicle they were about to board.
"Don't you think it looks kind of old?"
"Can that thing really fly?"
Actually, calling it "old" was already a rather tactful way for Misty to put it.
In her eyes, it wasn't merely "old." It was battered and looked like it had been seriously neglected and poorly maintained!
Anyone with eyes could see that it was bound to have major safety issues. There was no doubt about that!
