Fortunately, Xiaozhi ultimately didn't actually fall to his death.
Because the height from which he had fallen was simply too great, he had plenty of time to react. At the critical moment, he released the unruly Charizard from his team. Although the Charizard was extremely unwilling, and thoroughly despised and looked down on him, it ultimately couldn't bear to watch him fall to his death. With great reluctance, it intercepted him and carried him back to the airship.
After crying and sobbing for nearly half an hour, Xiaoxia and Xiaogang, who had initially thought Xiaozhi was probably doomed, saw him return from the dead. Along with that electric mouse, Pikachu, they naturally wept tears of joy and rushed over to him.
Annie, however, showed no reaction at all. When she saw that the troublesome fellow had indeed been rescued by that Charizard Pokémon, she merely curled her lips. Ignoring the three people chattering and fussing over one another, she went straight back to her room.
Although her room wasn't any better than the airship's dilapidated lounge, she didn't particularly care. All she wanted was a quiet place to get some sleep.
However...
Xiaozhi's return wasn't the end of it. Over the following period, a series of events occurred aboard the airship that made Xiaozhi and the other three rather unhappy.
For example, they later learned that this airship was actually the property of a company under Team Rocket, and that its entire operating crew consisted solely of Team Rocket's Jessie and James, along with Meowth?
Apparently, this airship had originally been scheduled for disposal and dismantling. But at the critical moment, some sucker had come along and bought tickets—indeed, they had chartered the entire aircraft.
Thus, Jessie and James, along with Meowth, had been temporarily assigned by their Team Rocket
