As the air rippled and the faint whine of engines sounded, a cloud of dust was kicked up. At last, when everything had gradually settled, a black-and-red Banshee with two turbofan engines and retro-rockets emerged from optical stealth in a secluded corner of an abandoned mine in the mountains outside Guixu City on Canopy Star.
The Banshee was an aerial vehicle used by the Terran military for missions within a planet in the Koprulu Sector. It dispensed with the traditional high-performance particle engines in favor of a cheaper, more reliable pair of turbofan engines. It also removed its air-to-air weapons and instead carried more powerful air-to-ground missiles, along with the DN51 device that rendered the craft optically invisible. These design choices gave the Banshee its low cost, high maneuverability, strong stealth, and excellent penetration capabilities, making it highly effective in tactical strikes. It was classified as a light air-to-ground support fighter capable of rapid redeployment and support.
Of course, thanks to its stealth, reliability, and ability to turn invisible and evade detection, Ghost Operatives often used Banshees as versatile transports for infiltrating enemy lines and conducting special operations. Several specially modified models with a range of combat capabilities and applications had even been developed for this purpose.
