Without a doubt, Canopy Star was an extremely important planet in the Taiwei Star System. It was the most important homeworld for humanity in the system, holding the same position there as Earth did in the Solar System. It was the only planet in the entire system where humans could live and thrive without any terraforming.
However, at this very moment, the planet had fallen into an unprecedented apocalyptic disaster.
The disaster had not come from humanity itself, nor had it been caused by a world war or some kind of virus. It had come from a terrifying creature from the Warp.
Its name was—daemon!
Reports said that the creatures known as daemons had appeared on the planet through Warp Storms and the Warp Rift that had nearly merged with the entire world. The moment they appeared, they brought endless slaughter and destruction.
Even more terrifyingly, their numbers seemed almost infinite. They were still appearing in an unceasing stream. The human armies had managed to kill some of them, but even more kept pouring in, bringing humanity death and despair.
On top of that, there were the high-ranking Psykers who had been corrupted and turned traitor from the very beginning. Like the daemons, they were slaughtering and destroying everything on the planet with abandon.
In just over two months, the important interstellar metropolis of Guixu City—a major city on Canopy Star—had already been completely lost. The fewer than one-third of its citizens and soldiers who remained could only wander and fight in the ruined "steel forest," amid flames, smoke, and the sounds of battle, resisting the terrifying daemons and Psykers.
Since Psykers had always ruled the planet, the collective fall of the Psyker elite had extinguished any hope of resistance two months ago, in the second week after the daemons
