In the outskirts of Guixu City, at an abandoned mine far from slaughter and war—a vast open-air storage yard nestled among the mountains, covering at least tens or even hundreds of thousands of square meters, carved out after the mining company leveled countless peaks—the refugees who had fled there, along with the dozen or so routed soldiers led by a female officer, were finally lucky enough to witness a shocking scene they would never forget.
As the star of Taiwei, the one also named "the sun," finally rose slowly above the western horizon, something strange happened in the morning light. First, a plump little golden-blue sphere zipped out of the beautiful Little White. Then the floating orb flew toward the various areas that had been marked out the day before.
From the enormous, blue-gem-like "single eye" on its body, it projected dazzling blue energy spheres toward the centers of those marked areas. The spheres expanded, their light spreading across nearly the entire open-air storage yard.
Fortunately, it was daytime, and Guixu City lay east of the mountains. When the sun rose in the west, the morning light partly obscured the energy fluctuations and glow here. Otherwise, such a commotion at night would surely have alarmed the daemons in Guixu City and drawn them over.
As it was, with the sun just rising and the glare of its light and the dawn masking what was happening, the Warp Daemons and those corrupted psykers probably wouldn't notice.
