Annie knew that Darius and the others at the base had been negotiating with envoys from Terra's Imperial expeditionary fleet these past few days, but she hadn't bothered getting involved.
Likewise, she knew that Wang Qing, Liu Li, and the other fools were conducting a large-scale counterinfiltration operation against some cult and the minions of an evil god, making frequent undercover arrests. But she still hadn't bothered getting involved, much less showing any interest in joining in.
That was because, compared to those boring affairs, she was much more inclined to take a little girl from one of the flagship vessels of the Great Crusade's fleet out to eat, show her around, let her have fun, introduce her to all sorts of interesting things, and leave a few amusing ideas in her head in the process.
After all, she'd known for ages that some creepy old man was planning to use little Allie to get close to her and win her favor, all so he could achieve some unspeakable goal. So naturally, she could turn the tables and use little Allie herself, then make things a little difficult for him when the time was right. That was much more fun than fighting Daemons.
Maybe the things she, the great leader Annie, did weren't always right, but she didn't care about that. As long as she thought something was fun and interesting, that was all that mattered.
Besides, right and wrong didn't mean much to her. Fun and interesting were unquestionably the most, most, most important things!
