Speaking of the Filth-Washing Spring, it had quite a history!
As the story went...
Ever since the creation of Heaven and Earth, there had originally been ten suns in the sky. But later, the great shaman Hou Yi had drawn his bow and shot down nine of them, leaving only one in the sky after the nine suns came crashing down.
Even more miraculously, after the nine Golden Crows had fallen to the earth, the Solar True Fire on them had burned without end for years. Over time, the places where they fell had turned into nine wondrous hot springs, named:
Fragrant Spirit Spring, Mountain-Side Spring, Hot Spring, East-Union Spring, Huang Mountain Spring, Filial Peace Spring, Guangfen Spring, Soup Spring, and the Filth-Washing Spring.
As luck would have it, the one here on Pansi Ridge was none other than the Filth-Washing Spring, one of the nine hot springs formed by the fallen suns!
The Filth-Washing Spring wasn't far away, either. It was only about three li from Lanxi Village, deep in the mountains behind the village.
According to Sixth Sister, the spring water was extraordinary. It flowed out hot, and had all sorts of wondrous uses.
Originally, it had been the private bathing pool of the Seven Fairies of the Heavenly Court. But a few hundred years ago, a group of female goblins had come to live here and claimed the spring, and the fairies had gradually stopped visiting.
They didn't want to squabble with the goblins or compete with them, so they'd simply let the goblins have the spring.
Once the goblins had claimed the bathing pool and learned of the Filth-Washing Spring's special properties, they'd become downright obsessed with it, even going for a soak three times a day.
