In the end, Annie conjured up the grimoire about the "Thops's Barrier" and tossed it to Fern, who had shamelessly begged her for it.
The only reason she'd handed it over so easily was that a boring barrier spell like that wasn't anything special.
At least, not to Her Majesty Queen Annie.
Back when she'd left the Lands Between, she'd simply thought the spell was rare and interesting. She'd also figured she could give it to some idiots like Hermione or Elaina to study when the opportunity arose, so she'd grudgingly collected it, along with a few other spells worth a look.
The barrier was said to be able to repel the spells of gods, but that was only relative. It definitely couldn't repel Her Majesty Queen Annie's spells.
If she wanted to, she had at least ten thousand ways to break through that boring barrier!
And if she felt like it, she could just as easily whip up at least ten thousand similar defensive spells—or even stronger ones!
So, giving away that grimoire was no big deal!
After Annie had captured and tamed the Red Mirror Dragon, Frieren and Fern had also completely looted the treasure it had spent who knew how many years accumulating. Fern was a little injured, too, so the three of them decided to rest for a couple of days in a nearby village.
That way, Fern could get a good two days of rest, and the unlucky Red Mirror Dragon could practice flying steadily with the carriage mounted on its back.
After all, they might still need it to carry the carriage on future trips, especially long-distance ones. It would also make the three women—young and old—genuine dragon mages, just like the ones in the legends.
