(˙o˙) The Next Destination
After Annie summoned Tibbers and he gave her a good chewing, Fern flatly refused to keep sparring with Annie. Instead, she continued begging her teacher, Frieren, to be her sparring partner and offer her some guidance.
After all, if she went to Tibbers on purpose and got eaten, she could at least trade that death for an hour of use of the Arena model. It wouldn't be a total waste.
But if she fought Annie and got eaten by Tibbers, then she really would have died for nothing. That nasty bear probably wouldn't honor the deal afterward, so Fern knew exactly which option to choose.
After seeing the miserable fate that had befallen Fern, Frieren immediately abandoned her own plan to spar with Annie and test her mettle.
She also figured she had no chance against Tibbers. Countless painful lessons had already proved as much, and she wasn't about to make trouble for herself.
And so!
After that, the two of them wisely stopped inviting Annie to spar or issuing her any challenges.
Two days later, after they had finished resupplying, the three of them once again secured the carriage to the Red Mirror Dragon's back. Without disturbing the soldiers in the border fortress city, they took off from a secluded spot. The three of them and the dragon easily crossed the Kelyll Gorge, gradually entering the Northern Lands.

A few hours after takeoff, Fern once again leaned against the window of the carriage's sitting room. Her eyes were wide, filled with wonder and excitement, and her cheeks were flushed with enthusiasm.
