That day, Annie, Frieren, and Fern stayed in the nameless town, where they also took part in some event commemorating Himmel and the four heroes' victory over the Demon King—which included a memorial service for Himmel and Frieren. After the three of them had eaten, drunk, and played to their hearts' content, they'd had a rather pleasant time.
Although, during the festivities, Fern had repeatedly wanted to point out that two of the four heroes, Lady Frieren and Lady Eisen, were still alive, so the townspeople didn't really need to hold a memorial for them alongside Himmel and Heiter.
Two days later, the three of them finally arrived at a large city in the Granat Earldom, one of the Northern Lands.
Then, unsurprisingly, Frieren and Fern immediately went off to shop and look for spellbooks.
Of course, Fern was the one shopping, while Frieren searched for spellbooks.
As for Annie, she did what she always did: stayed in the luxurious, expanded room inside the carriage and slept soundly. She probably wouldn't get up before the middle of the afternoon.
Since they planned to spend a couple of days in this large city, there was no need to wake her up in a hurry like last time.
However, a little mishap occurred this time.
Anyway, Fern hadn't been out for long before she came hurrying back alone. She rushed into the carriage, then hurried straight to Annie's room, intending to barge in.
Unfortunately, the wooden door was locked from the inside. If Fern hadn't had enough padding on her upper body, she might have ended up with a bruised face.
"Annie!"
Bang! Bang!
But she couldn't worry about that. She pounded on the door as hard as she could and shouted:
"Annie—"
"Something's wrong!"
"Something terrible has happened!"
"Open the door!"
