"Hmm? Something seems to be going on! Heh heh!"

Annie gave a cold snort, turned around, and hopped lightly off Anna the Unicorn's silver back, her face dark with displeasure. She landed steadily on the grass.

Annie was very unhappy now! Why did this always happen? Every time she was having fun, some stupid creatures had to come along and provoke her. Did they think she wouldn't notice them just because they were hiding in the woods? How ignorant! A bunch of fools!

She and Anna had been playing for a long time. Racing through the Forbidden Forest had been a very novel experience for Annie! After all that excitement, they'd planned to rest for a while on this fairly level patch of grass. But who could have guessed that shortly after they arrived, a group of four-legged monsters would emerge from the shadowy woods and surround them?

Annie wasn't afraid, though. She merely frowned and watched the creatures slowly step out of the shadows, thoroughly annoyed. Were they horse-headed people? Oh! No, wait—they were people-headed horses? What were they trying to do? Rob them? Kidnap them? They'd picked the wrong target!

"Human girl! You're not welcome in the Forbidden Forest! I advise you to leave our forest at once!" After surrounding Annie and Anna the Unicorn, the lead centaur stamped his forehooves heavily on the grass, trotted forward a couple of steps, and nocked an arrow, aiming it at Annie as he threatened her.

The centaurs of the wizarding world were proud and stubborn magical creatures. They thought highly of themselves and looked down on humans! According to the records, they had even fought a war against wizards long ago! The outcome, however, had been pretty amusing!
