The moment those two attacks—a pair of ghostly blue flames and a corrosive demonic aura as black as smoke—shot from Dr. Thaddeus Sivana's hands, they spread apart in midair. Like two enormous claws, one black and one ghostly blue, they swept toward Superman as he flew at them faster and faster, spreading out like a huge net cast by a fisherman.

After years of watching television, countless news reports, and broadcasts, Thaddeus Sivana had long since learned all about the Kryptonian Superman, who was impervious to bullets and possessed incredible strength... So this time, he'd used an unconventional attack right from the start, intending to ensnare his enemy in his magic!

He wanted to see whether the Kryptonian's supposedly bulletproof, steel-hard body could withstand the powerful magic he'd gained from the "Rock of Eternity"!
