At night, on a bench in a brightly lit park beside the street, a little girl frowned at the phone that kept vibrating and ringing. She stared straight at the caller information on its screen, watching the display that read "Kuroko Shirai is calling you..." without moving. She simply refused to answer, but didn't hang up either. Even when plenty of passersby and students cast strange looks her way, she didn't seem to mind at all.
Because she knew that if she simply let the other person hang up or waited for the call to time out, the caller would think she hadn't deliberately ignored the call. They'd assume she was busy doing something else and hadn't heard it ring, or that she hadn't brought her phone with her. That was how she could avoid answering certain people's calls.
"Beep~!"
Sure enough, after a while, just as the frowning, half-lidded Annie was starting to get impatient, the incoming-call display finally disappeared on its own. Her phone returned to its standby screen, with a prominent new missed-call notification.
