Background / History

Roxy was born into the Migurd Tribe on the Demon Continent but lacked her tribe's telepathic communication ability. Her parents learned to read and write so they could communicate with her, while her inability to connect telepathically left her isolated from other children. The traveling magician Badigadi later taught her basic magic and exposed her to the wider world. 19

At fourteen, Roxy secretly left home and registered as an adventurer. Because Migurd appearance does not visibly mature after that age, other adventurers continued treating her as a child even when she was seventeen. She eventually joined a party led by Harkendil, reached B-rank after three years, and experienced her captain's death during a magical disaster. The loss taught her how fragile life could be and led to a period of solitary travel. 19

While traveling through Milis, Roxy faced discrimination over her appearance and had to pay guards merely to pass through certain towns. She continued adventuring, took out a loan for a new magic staff, later advanced to A-rank, and accepted dangerous work when the reward justified the risk. 19

Roxy arrived at the Greyrat household as a magic tutor for Roa, Rudeus, and Sylphiette. Initially assuming Roa was a girl because of his appearance, she was quickly stunned to discover that all three children could cast magic far beyond her expectations. She nevertheless proved to be a clear and capable instructor, teaching them advanced magic and its safety precautions. 8 9 13

Outside her lessons, Roxy regularly used magic to bring rain to local farmland. Her kindness toward the farmers and nostalgia for her own family revealed a gentler side beneath her tired, prickly demeanor. 14 15

After teaching the Greyrat children all she could, Roxy accepted that she needed to continue growing independently. Roa gave her a Magic Seed before her departure; it greatly increased her Magic Power, though its activation was painful. She left with farewell gifts from the Greyrat family and promised to write. 18 22

Roxy later cleared a difficult Labyrinth, became a Water King-level mage, and accepted employment as the Xilong Kingdom's Court Mage. She declined the position of tutor to the Seventh Prince, instead spending part of her time training soldiers to respond to magic in combat. 157 159

When Roa found her in Xilong, he proposed marriage. Roxy admitted that she loved him but hesitated, wanting their relationship to develop through a more traditional courtship and shared adventures. Their relationship nevertheless became romantic, and Roa later referred to her as his wife. 158 167

Roxy eventually received an invitation from Ranoa Magic University to work as a lecturer. Feeling stagnant in the Asura Kingdom, she wanted to contribute more through the academy. 461 She later became pregnant with Roa's child. 498
