"The Star Dou Great Forest's natural energy has been almost completely absorbed by me. It might not be enough when they form their cores, so I'll set up a small array to draw in Star Force. It'll make forming their cores easier when the time comes."
"Those who cannot absorb Star Force do not count as true high-ranking members of the Demon Race."
A trace of disdain appeared on Lu Wu's face.
That was indeed the case in the Primordial Realm. Back then, humanity was not particularly strong. Although some demons discovered that devouring humans could increase their cultivation, such things were only done by lowly minor demons.
Because of the Zhou Tian Star Dou Array, true high-ranking demons relied entirely on Star Force and heavenly treasures to cultivate. There was no need to offend Nüwa just to improve their cultivation by such a tiny amount.
Even the Witch-Slaying Sword, which had originally been meant to break the Twelve Divine Demon Extermination Array through slaughtering humans, was never forged. After Lu Wu persuaded them that the Witch Race might forge a Demon Slaughtering Sword in response to their actions, Di Jun ultimately abandoned the idea. After all, he had only been gambling that Nüwa did not value humanity highly.
"Star Force?"
Gu Yuena's small mouth fell slightly open, her exquisite tail swaying behind her. She had never expected that Star Force could be used for cultivation.
She raised her head again to look at the blazing sun overhead. Gu Yuena quietly swallowed. Sun Force... Di Tian and the others should be able to withstand it, right?
"All right, finished."
Lu Wu looked approvingly at the stone he had casually picked up from the shore. It was now covered in crooked runes. This was an ultra-simplified version of the Zhou Tian Star Dou Array—though it could not even truly be considered one. It was merely a small array for drawing in Star Force, barely sufficient as a temporary measure.
To set up the true Zhou Tian Star Dou Array, one had to forge three hundred and sixty-five Greater Heavenly Stellar Banners, corresponding to the three hundred and sixty-five primary stars in the heavens. At the same time, one also needed fourteen thousand eight hundred Lesser Heavenly Stellar Banners, corresponding to the fourteen thousand eight hundred secondary stars.
With the Sun Star and Lunar Star as the main array cores, and the Twenty-Eight Mansions as supporting stars, they formed the heart of the array.
Beyond the Star Banners, it also required the power of hundreds of millions of demon gods. Each demon god represented a star, together forming the incomparably mighty Zhou Tian Star Dou Array.
Only such a sight could truly shake heaven and earth, magnificent beyond compare.
Lu Wu tossed the Array Stone in his hand into the sky. As he poured power into it, the Array Stone began to function.
An invisible ripple spread in every direction, marking out an area neither too large nor too small.
Gu Yuena watched the Array Stone, which showed no further reaction, and felt inwardly confused, wondering whether something had gone wrong.
But the next second, Gu Yuena's eyes widened.
A point of light suddenly appeared in the clear azure sky. Then it gradually expanded, radiating a dazzling brilliance that was almost blinding.
As the point of light drew ever closer, Gu Yuena finally saw what it was. It was boundless Sun Force pouring down like a waterfall, like a sharp sword piercing through the clouds and splitting the sky apart, radiating endless light and heat.
The golden-red Sun Force was absorbed and transformed by an invisible field. The originally grayish-brown stone seemed unable to bear so much power and began to emit a brilliant red glow as well.
Gu Yuena stared in astonishment at the scene before her. Feeling the terrifying power contained within it, she marveled at Lu Wu's strength. It was only a stone he had casually made, yet it could create such a tremendous spectacle.
Then a hidden fervor appeared in Gu Yuena's eyes. Because she had shed her former body and cultivated anew, although her bloodline had reached the level of the Dragon God, she still needed to cultivate her power again. The cultivation method Lu Wu had given her also contained methods for tempering the body with Star Force.
"Wait until they transform into demons first. When the time comes, I'll leave this stone under your control."
Lu Wu saw through Gu Yuena's thoughts, but he did not mind. He could make such stones whenever he wished. This one was simply enough for now. Those who had only just transformed into demons could not absorb so much Star Force, especially not violent power like Sun Force.
"Thank you."
Gu Yuena's little tail swayed through the air. The emptiness of having no power made her uneasy, so she naturally craved strength greatly now. She was deeply grateful for Lu Wu's tacit permission.
"This is...!"
Ten Thousand Demons King looked at the tree that covered the sky before him and let out a groan in his heart. The pressure from that bloodline level nearly rendered him speechless.
Its leaves were like mustard greens, its entire body like fire. It could grow two thousand zhang tall, with a girth of over two thousand zhang. Two trunks supported one another as they grew together. It was precisely the Fusang Tree from Lu Wu's memories.
As an innate spiritual root of departure fire and the birthplace of Di Jun and Taiyi, the Fusang Tree's status and foundation ranked among the very best of the Primordial Realm's spiritual roots. Ten Thousand Demons King was so shocked that he could only babble incoherently.
Countless fire spirits played and frolicked among the Fusang Tree's branches, while also maintaining and tending to it, making it shine even more brilliantly.
"So this is what Lu Master expects of me?"
Ten Thousand Demons King stared blankly at the radiant Fusang Tree and muttered to himself. Then boundless fighting spirit erupted in his eyes.
He had originally been an ordinary Demon Eye Magic Tree in the Star Dou Great Forest, but an Immortal Spirit Grass had unexpectedly grown beside him. Under normal circumstances, the Immortal Spirit Grass should have absorbed all the nutrients and caused him to die. Yet through his own tenacity and ambition, Ten Thousand Demons King had endured the agony of devouring the Immortal Spirit Grass, becoming the king of plant-type Soul Beasts he was today.
Though he had known there was still room for him to grow, the increase in power at the level of Fierce Beasts was far too slow. It was as though some rule restricted the growth of Soul Beasts, leaving them no choice but to endure the passage of time.
Yet most heavenly treasures no longer had much effect on him, while the rare few that did were to be offered to his lord. In truth, Ten Thousand Demons King had been rather unmotivated before.
But now, a new path to the heavens lay before him. Ten Thousand Demons King wanted to improve too.
The image of the Fusang Tree reflected in Ten Thousand Demons King's eyes, as if flames were burning within them.
Elsewhere, within the Sea of Spirit.
The Three-Eyed Golden Lion stared blankly at the enormous golden dragon before her, its length impossible to discern, its entire body gleaming with brilliant gold.
"You look so much like Master in the future. One large and one small, one gold and one silver."
As an Imperial Auspicious Beast born with intelligence no weaker than a human's, the Three-Eyed Golden Lion naturally understood the contents of Lu Wu and the others' discussion. However, over ten thousand years of life in the forest had left her simple by nature, and she had not thought too deeply about it.
The Five-Clawed Golden Dragon did not respond to the Three-Eyed Golden Lion. It merely exuded terrifying Dragon Might, its gaze fixed tightly on the distance. The muscles along its body tensed slightly before it shot into the sky, the dragon dancing across the nine heavens.
Within the Sea of Spirit, the Fierce Beasts all saw their own future paths. Some were bewildered, while others were filled with passion and ambition.
Indescribable feelings radiated from the Fierce Beasts one after another.
Di Tian was the first to open his eyes. Time flowed differently in the Sea of Spirit than it did in reality. Although he had been the Dragon God's personal guard before cultivating anew and possessed vast knowledge and experience, he had still been taught by Lu Wu for several years within the Sea of Spirit before finally comprehending it.
When he saw the snow-white little beast nearby, terror instinctively appeared in Di Tian's eyes, and his body could not help trembling. It was an aftereffect left behind from being struck by lightning too many times during his instruction.
The other Fierce Beasts also awoke one after another. After trembling as well, they sensed the power gathering overhead, and indescribable radiance burst forth from their eyes.
The central theme of this novel is the Demon Race defeating humanity. If you dislike that, please read something else. There is no need to leave a bad review before you go—thank you.
The protagonist was human two lifetimes ago, with only twenty brief years of human memories. In his previous life, he became a member of the Demon Race and lived among them for countless years. Moreover, Taiyi protected him and allowed him to live freely, so it was only natural that he favored the Demon Race.
He also did his best to prevent humanity from being harmed. Later, he drifted through chaos for an unknown number of years. Compared to that, his memories as a human were no more than a drop in the ocean. The only reason he protected humanity in the Primordial Realm was because the author decided that he still retained some humanity. Logically speaking, he should have regarded humans as food from the start.
This novel will not go so far as to let the Demon Race freely devour humans—beware the censorship gods—but the demon-human race is also a branch of the Demon Race, right? :) Isn't it perfectly normal for humanity to produce traitors and collaborators?
