Background / History

Soul Beasts possess long lifespans, but this comes with severe limits on their intelligence and growth. A hundred-year Soul Beast has only instinct, a thousand-year Soul Beast has the intellect of a young child, and even ten-thousand-year Soul Beasts only approach a human teenager's intelligence. Their bloodlines also contain shackles that limit their evolution. 34

Before Lu Wu's arrival, the Soul Beast race was steadily pressured by humanity. Soul Masters hunted them for soul rings and soul bones, while hundred-thousand-year Beast Kings could be targeted despite agreements supposedly limiting such hunts. 10 23 The Silver Dragon King therefore accepts Lu Wu's proposal to restore the race in return for Life Gold, despite recognizing the risk of dealing with an unknown being. 1

Lu Wu first transforms the Fierce Beasts into demons by teaching them a Demon Race cultivation method and having them form Demon Cores with Sun Force. This grants them new bodies, greater strength, and paths beyond their previous limits. 7 9 10

He later expands this change beyond the Fierce Beasts. Through Di Er Fluid Paste, he awakens intelligence among Soul Beasts throughout the continent, allowing many to communicate, learn cultivation, and recognize Demon Script imprinted into their bloodlines. 34 35 77

Physical Characteristics

Soul Beasts do not share a single form. The race includes ordinary animal-like beasts, powerful Beast Kings, plant-type beings, and newly awakened non-animal entities.

Intelligence and Society

Before the continental awakening, most Soul Beasts below the hundred-thousand-year level lacked mature intelligence. This made the race difficult to organize despite its numbers and reproductive advantages over humanity. 10 34

After Di Er Fluid Paste descends, Soul Beasts across Douluo Star begin awakening spiritually. They gain clearer emotions, communication abilities, and the capacity to understand cultivation. Soul Beasts with sufficient intelligence can automatically learn Demon Script, allowing them to communicate more effectively than through roars and instinct alone. 35 77

The awakened race begins forming a more organized society under the Demon Race's leadership. Gu Yuena and the demonized Fierce Beasts take responsibility for protecting weaker Soul Beasts, recognizing that allowing them to be wiped out would undermine the Demon Race's future. 37

Soul Beast Bloodlines

Soul Beasts possess varied bloodlines, many of which grant powerful attributes or distinctive physical traits.
