Ye Wen watched the refugees flee in every direction. There was nothing he could do; no one would listen to him. Suddenly, he spotted the mage girl from earlier. She hadn't left right away—instead, she was still helping the wounded. Ye Wen couldn't help admiring her. She was a girl with a true hero's heart!
Sure enough, before long, a pack of Demonic Beasts appeared. They were Wolf Race beasts, incredibly fast, each larger than the lions and tigers on Earth. Quite a few of them could even use skills. That meant there were many fourth-rank and higher Demonic Beasts among them.
Seeing nearly a hundred Devil Wolves, Ye Wen wanted to help hold them off for a while. But he had underestimated how terrified people were of the Demon Race, especially when faced with a pack of third- and fourth-rank Demonic Beasts.
As soon as the Demon Race arrived, everyone scattered and ran. But how could ordinary people possibly outrun these Demonic Beasts?

The girl beside the mage was already so frightened that all color had drained from her face. Tingting wasn't doing much better.
Normally, they only encountered one or two Demonic Beasts at a time. There had never been so many. The giant Devil Wolves stared at everyone with cold, bloodthirsty eyes.
"Xiao Yuan, hurry! Leave the things behind and run!" she said, grabbing her hand and pulling her along.
But screams rang out from every direction, and the pungent smell of blood filled the whole area. No one could escape—not from under the noses of this pack of Devil Wolves.
Ye Wen watched the scene before him, his heart surging. Seeing his fellow humans bitten to death and torn apart by the Demonic Beasts, he wanted to kill every last one of them, to capture every invading beast in the Demon Suppressing Tower.
Just then, two Devil Wolves caught up with the mage girl. They were about to pounce and savor the feeling of ripping the flesh from their prey—
when they suddenly felt themselves fly through the air. By the time they hit the ground with a heavy thud, their minds were still blank. They saw the person who had sent them flying and prepared to pounce again, only to find that they couldn't even stand steadily.
Then the pain hit, and they howled loudly. But after two or three cries, the Devil Wolves fell silent. They lay stiff on the ground, dead!
The deaths of the two Devil Wolves immediately drew the pack's attention. Every one of them turned to look at Ye Wen. He patted the two stunned girls on the shoulder.
"Come with me. We'll find somewhere to hide for now. We can't get out until we kill all these pups."
Ye Wen quickly led the two women to a rundown house. It looked like it had once been a roadside inn. He turned to the girls.
"Hide inside. Don't come out! I'll come back for you in a bit."
His words quickly calmed the two panicked girls. They seemed to carry a soothing magic, easing their fear.
"Be careful, young master!"
As Ye Wen turned to leave, the girl named Tingting called out a soft warning. He glanced back and smiled, then turned to face the Devil Wolves closing in around him.
Ye Wen smiled cruelly at the beasts. He hadn't expected his attempt to rein in his bloodlust and murderous intent to last less than a day. He was going to break his restraint again—all because of this pack of beasts.
Seeing them slaughtering humans sent murderous intent surging through Ye Wen once more.
So this time, Ye Wen held nothing back. He activated Berserk right away, worried that more Demonic Beasts might follow. He could leave on his own, but the girl behind him might not make it out.
Berserk Ye Wen charged straight into the pack, unleashing another brutal massacre. He didn't bother defending himself, letting the Devil Wolves pounce on him. Then the pack was filled with howling and the dull thuds of fists landing in flesh.
The five Devil Wolves that had just pounced on him were already sprawled on the ground, blood gushing from their enormous mouths.
Instant kills!
The five Devil Wolves had been killed the moment they made contact with Ye Wen.
Ye Wen didn't wait for the pack to attack. He strode forward and dealt lethal blows to the Devil Wolves that had been so savage just moments earlier.
Just then, two Devil Wolves tried to sneak up on the girls inside the house.
But they had underestimated Ye Wen's speed after he went Berserk. Before they were even ten meters from the house, Ye Wen struck them down on the spot.
"Tingting, we're saved! We're not going to die. That young master is incredible!"
The girl beside her, Xiao Yuan, cried as she spoke to Tingting. At first, she had thought it was all over—that she was sure to die. Even if the City Lord had been there, he couldn't have saved her and Tingting. But she hadn't expected the young man to be so powerful.
He'd only been out there a short while, yet he'd already killed so many of those savage Devil Wolves.
