Background / History

Zhong Yuanjiu was a Seventh Grade Grandmaster of the Longevity Dao Sect who held the position of Third Elder. Gou Yanyu was his registered disciple, while Lu Shaofeng was his First Disciple. 68 99 102

After Gou Yanyu identified Ye Wen and Li Mo as applicants with exceptional spiritual roots, he ordered the testing disciples to record both as possessing Mid-grade spiritual roots. Gou claimed this was done under Zhong's instructions, supposedly because the Third Elder intended to accept them early and wished to avoid competing with other Grandmasters. 70 96

Zhong pursued Ye Wen into the Immeasurable Secret Realm after Ye's past conflict with his faction became known. He was already injured after Ye Wen's demonic possession, but continued to hunt him at Desperate Cliff. 76 81 87

Conflict with Ye Wen

Zhong Yuanjiu attempted to kill Ye Wen through repeated surprise attacks, using conversation to distract him before directing his Spirit Artifact Flying Sword at vital points. He justified this approach as a lesson in survival: one should always attack with the intent to kill. 80

During their battle near Desperate Cliff, Zhong's Spirit Artifact armor was shattered by the demonically possessed Ye Wen, leaving him spiritually injured and unable to use his Flying Sword freely. He remained cautious of Ye's abnormal recovery, but renewed his assault once he realized Ye Wen was regaining fighting strength. 81

Ye Wen later found Zhong recovering in the secret realm and ambushed him with the Blood Drinker Devil Blade. Zhong was wounded in the leg and gradually overwhelmed in close combat, then consumed a pill that temporarily restored and enhanced his Spiritual Sense. This allowed him to resume high-speed Flying Sword attacks, though Ye Wen recognized that the effect carried severe backlash. 88

Zhong ultimately died when the demon fire of the Blood Drinker Devil Blade reduced him to ash. Ye Wen subsequently took Zhong's Flying Sword, pills, and incomplete copy of the Longevity Scripture. 89 92

Personality

Zhong was ruthless, calculating, and highly cautious. He used deceit and lethal ambushes even against a junior cultivator, treating combat as a matter of killing before one could be killed. 80

Despite his aggression, he was wary of unknown threats. Ye Wen's demonic possession, extraordinary physique, and rapid healing made Zhong hesitate rather than immediately press his advantage. 81

When cornered, Zhong resorted to a powerful pill to restore his damaged Spiritual Sense, revealing his desperation and willingness to accept dangerous consequences for victory. 88
