The return of Tony Stark made Feeney feel an even greater sense of urgency. This meant the appearance of the Mark III and Iron Monger was not far off. However, no matter how powerful they were, they couldn't be built in a day or two, so there was still ample time.
At the same time, there was good news regarding how to deal with Iron Monger – he already had an idea.
When opening a portal, the more detailed the imagined location and the clearer the image, the faster it would appear and the easier it would be to control.
For Feeney, opening portals to two places was easiest: the first was his home in New York, and the second was Kamar-Taj.
Next were places like school and the Himalayas, and the key to defeating Iron Monger lay in the Himalayas.
This world's highest mountain range had an average altitude of over seven thousand meters, and it also boasted the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, with temperatures dropping as low as minus sixty degrees Celsius.
When Tony was creating the Iron Man Armor, he initially didn't consider the surface icing problem, which led to system malfunctions. Fortunately, he discovered it early and switched to space materials in a timely manner.
Iron Monger, however, hadn't thought that far ahead. Of course, it was possible that without Tony's Miniature Arc Reactor, he couldn't conduct various tests, which led to this oversight.
Regardless, the low temperature was a weakness for Iron Monger. Feeney's idea was simple: open a portal and directly pull Iron Monger to Mount Everest to fight.
This would not only ensure the opponent's strength was weakened but also allow for a timely escape if he couldn't win, wearing the opponent down. Furthermore, it would prevent destruction in New York and ensure the safety of many ordinary people – truly killing three birds with one stone.
The only thing worth worrying about was the opponent's determination to escape.
Without the Mirror Dimension, and with the opponent able to fly, it would be difficult to catch up. Therefore, Feeney felt he might need to pull Tony in for this.
While restricting the opponent, he could also gain experience as Iron Man!
In reality, there were many ways to defeat Iron Monger. Obadiah was just an ordinary person, and knowing the future, defeating him would be too easy.
But Feeney wanted the experience gained from combat, not just to defeat Obadiah, which was why it was so troublesome.
The environment of Mount Everest was harsh. While restricting Iron Monger, Feeney himself would also be somewhat affected, but it was relatively acceptable.
Compared to the Iron Man Armor made by Iron Man, 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' might be inferior in many aspects, but it was also far superior in many others.
From the perspective of adaptability and portability alone, given Tony's speed in updating his armor, 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' could still lead him for many years.
After confirming his idea, Feeney took a week's leave from school. Since he didn't have many classes usually and his grades were good, his mentor didn't think much of it and agreed.
Carrying the Eye of Agamotto, Feeney opened a portal.
The weather was freezing, and snow was falling.
Mount Everest truly lived up to its reputation as the world's highest peak. Even in his 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' state, Feeney felt waves of cold at this not-so-high altitude. He would spend the next week training hard in such an environment to break through his limits.
The cultivation methods at Kamar-Taj were mainly for practicing spells, so they weren't very effective for physical breakthroughs. Therefore, this time he adopted a different approach.
Rock climbing!
Climbing this world's highest peak bare-handed, all the way to the highest point. Although falling might not necessarily be fatal with the protection of 'Possessed by Evil Spirit'...
During this time, besides the difficulty of climbing, the most important point was to control his limits. If he forcibly deactivated 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' at his physical limit and couldn't open a portal in his ordinary state, he would truly die in this temperature.
Day one, day two, day three...
Soon, six days passed.
During these six days, although Feeney's climbing speed and distance improved daily, he still hadn't managed to break through.
Feeney knew the reason.
He was afraid, afraid of truly messing up and accidentally dying here. So, every time he thought he had reached his limit, he would unconsciously hold back a sliver of stamina. It was this hesitation that prevented him from breaking through.
"This won't do!"
Today was the last day of his leave, and Feeney had to make a decision. This time, he didn't continue climbing upwards but sat cross-legged on a wide, open space – the battlefield he had chosen for the upcoming fight.
The wind was biting, and snow swirled. Feeney, sitting in the snow, endured the cold. 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' was slowly draining his stamina.
As dusk fell, the temperature dropped further.
"I can't hold on much longer..."
Feeney felt the weakness in his body. At this moment, 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' made him feel as if he were truly being tormented by an evil spirit, along with the wind and snow.
"No, if I go back now, it'll be the same as the past few days."
Feeney gritted his teeth, forcing himself to persevere. But looking at the dark surroundings, waves of thoughts about giving up uncontrollably spread through his mind.
As the saying goes, nothing is impossible if you're willing to give up.
Feeney's mind was filled with thoughts like: Why am I pushing myself so hard? Isn't practicing step-by-step fine? There's no need to take such risks.
At this moment, Feeney didn't notice that as he gritted his teeth and persevered, the bright silver armor on his body grew darker and darker, as if merging with the darkness, seeming to vanish yet also to become invisible.
"Even if it's not necessary, I'm willing!"
Feeney suddenly muttered to himself, as if answering his own thoughts: "I'm just an ordinary person. Besides being handsome, if I give up on effort, what else is left!"
"Am I going to gamble my life on a fifty-fifty chance and rely on others to survive!?"
"I might not become a hero, but I will never be a coward!"
Feeney clenched his fists and stood up. In the darkness, his figure grew fainter, but the scarlet eyes on his face mask grew brighter, and a power slowly flowed through the armor.
A sense of weakness washed over Feeney in waves, making him feel as if he could deactivate 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' at any moment and collapse unconscious.
Cold snowflakes landed on his face, and a bone-chilling cold instantly swept through Feeney's entire body. A long sword floated before him.
'Possessed by Evil Spirit' automatically deactivated!
"Am I going to die here?"
Looking at the long sword before him, Feeney, who was barely standing, trembled and thought silently. But he was unwilling. In the whistling cold wind, he laboriously extended his palm.
"Possessed by Evil Spirit!"
Feeney shouted as if roaring, using the last trace of strength in his body.
A roar sounded in his ears, as if in response to his cry. A happy smile appeared on Feeney's lips. He had succeeded. He had finally broken through himself.
No longer needing to borrow the command of the 'Golden Great Deduction Technique', Feeney opened a portal relying solely on the 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' state.
Stumbling through the portal, Feeney had no strength left. 'Possessed by Evil Spirit' slowly dissipated again, and he fell to the ground, unconscious.
Fortunately, at the last moment before his consciousness disappeared, the last thing he saw was Skye's terrified little face.
I recommend Big Shot's book <Because I'm Too Afraid of Bad Luck, I've Maxed Out My Luck>. I hope everyone will support it and come back later!!!
I got a small recommendation today. To hopefully get another one next week, please give me some recommendation votes and help spread the word! o(╥﹏╥)o
