Yamamoto Kansuke's story was rather peculiar. He had originally been Imagawa Yoshimoto's man, but Imagawa Yoshimoto thought Kansuke was far too ugly to suit his noble tastes, so Kansuke had gone over to Takeda Shingen.

It could even be said that the plan to seize Suwa Shrine and gain the power of "Divine Magic" through worship of Suwa Daimyojin had been Yamamoto Kansuke's idea.
