And so, as the flames were lit and everyone focused their attention on the area surrounded by fire, Lin Yun quietly slipped away.

His work was done. Lin Yun didn't particularly like burning people at the stake; he preferred methods that were quick and clean. Usually, people weren't killed outright by being burned at the stake. More often, they suffocated in the thick smoke from the flames before their bodies actually began to char.

There was no doubt that it was an extremely painful process.

Still, this old bastard had a heart condition. No need to be so considerate of him.

Besides, in the original story, this guy would have been killed by the Snake-skinned Monster anyway. The monster simply wasn't interested in such a cowardly weakling; it just wanted to burn, kill, and plunder.

So this fellow, who cared only about protecting himself, would have been killed in the end.

Now, though, the bad guy had been punished, and at least the innocent people wouldn't die.

As for what happened next, Lin Yun wasn't a nanny. The Empire could handle its own problems from here on out.
