Because of the Great Vortex, this powerful Serpent Dragon, like the other dragons, had found some corner to hide in and concealed itself there. But what the young lady and the Dwarf Miner hadn't expected was...
The Meteor Iron Ore the Dwarf Miner had been after was actually on the Serpent Dragon's body.
Normally, the Great Vortex would have sucked away the Magic Wind, leaving the Serpent Dragon listless. But when it caught the young lady's scent, it detected something unusual.
It was the scent of someone who had slain the Earth Guardian's son, Deathwing's son.
At the time, the young lady had wanted to see if she could absorb dragon blood in the future and become a true Dragon Vein Sorcerer—the kind who was half dragon and half human.
So she had even bathed in the Black Dragon Prince's blood.
On top of that, her shield had been made from a reverse scale she'd pried off the Black Dragon Prince.
In other words, she was absolutely drenched in the scent of dragons.
To the Serpent Dragon, that was nothing less than an open provocation.
And so, while the young lady was still unaware that the Serpent Dragon lay beneath her, she transformed into a Giant Earth Elemental and prepared to go underground to "dig" out all the Meteor Iron Ore. The Serpent Dragon attacked her at once.
The Great Vortex had left the Serpent Dragon in a relatively "weakened" state, but that wasn't a reason
