Background

Tang San is the son of Tang Hao, the Clear Sky Douluo, and Ah Yin, a transformed soul beast of the Blue Silver Emperor lineage. He initially believed his Blue Silver Grass was ordinary, until Tai Tan revealed that it carried Ah Yin’s imperial bloodline. This revelation explained the intended second awakening of his martial soul and tied him to the Blue Silver Grass clan. 287

Tang Hao remained distant for much of Tang San’s youth to protect him from Spirit Hall. When father and son reunited during the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament, Tang San learned of his Clear Sky Sect heritage and sought permission to cultivate his second martial soul, the Clear Sky Hammer. 191

After Tang Hao’s death, Tang San was imprisoned and later released from Spirit Hall’s Celestial Prison. Spirit Hall’s healers had deliberately reconnected his meridians incorrectly, leaving him nearly unable to cultivate. Tang Yuehua arranged treatment that rebuilt his meridians, allowing his Soul Power circulation and cultivation to recover. 286 288 293

Appearance

Before his Blue Silver Emperor awakening, Tang San was described as ordinary enough to disappear in a crowd. The completed awakening dramatically altered both his appearance and temperament, giving him the bearing of a true noble. 306

  • Awakened Blue Silver Emperor bloodline.
  • Carries a markedly more refined and noble temperament after his second awakening.
  • Used the identity Tang Yin while studying at Moonlight Pavilion and interacting with Heaven Dou nobility. 311
  • Often conceals his identity when traveling, including by wearing a mask in Holy Soul Village. 299

Personality

Tang San is fiercely devoted to those he considers his own. When Xiao Wu was taken by the Titan Giant Ape, he wandered the Star Dou Great Forest in pursuit of her, then knelt and offered lifelong repayment to Wu Qi in exchange for help. 46

He is highly secretive about the Tang Sect inheritance. He hid Wu Qi’s role in obtaining his Third Soul Ring from Yu Xiaogang, kept the Mysterious Heaven Skill entirely concealed, and guarded even his Hidden Weapon work from fellow students. 50 293

His determination frequently becomes an obsession with closing the gap between himself and stronger opponents. He attempted to pursue a Ten-Thousand-Year Fourth Ring to match Wu Qi, pressed to cultivate the Clear Sky Hammer despite its dangers, and later swore revenge against Spirit Hall and Wu Qi. 153 191 570

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses the Blue Silver Emperor and Clear Sky Hammer, making him a Twin Martial Soul Master.

  • His Blue Silver Grass evolved into the Blue Silver Emperor after a second awakening in the Blue Silver Forest. 306
  • The Blue Silver Emperor’s innate Fifth Soul Ring grows in age as Tang San grows stronger. 306
  • He can switch between Blue Silver Emperor and Clear Sky Hammer in combat, though doing so did not prevent Wu Qi from suppressing him during their tournament battle. 229
  • His Blue Silver Grass can be used for control, binding, escape, and rapid movement through terrain. 50 509

Mysterious Heaven Skill

Tang San cultivates the Mysterious Heaven Skill, a Tang Sect inheritance considered more advanced than ordinary Douluo Continent Soul Master cultivation methods. 14

  • Sustained his strength even when his improperly connected meridians impeded ordinary cultivation. 286
  • Remains one of his most closely guarded secrets; he refused to disclose it to Yu Xiaogang. 293
  • Supports his broader Tang Sect martial arts and weapon techniques.

Purple Demon Eye

An eye-cultivation technique that enhances Tang San’s perception.

  • Allowed him to detect the Man Faced Demon Spider’s surprise attack and evade with Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track. 46
  • Enables him to visually follow opponents whose speed would otherwise exceed his perception, including Wu Qi. 50
  • Cultivated by absorbing eastern purple qi at dawn. 298

Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track

A movement technique used for evasive combat.

  • Helped Tang San avoid the Man Faced Demon Spider’s stabbing legs during its ambush. 46
  • Complements his close-range fighting and Hidden Weapon deployment.

Clear Sky Hammer Techniques

Tang San gradually developed the Clear Sky Hammer under the guidance of Tang Hao, Tai Tan, and Tang Xiao.

  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer — a stacking hammer technique that can generate air currents and increase striking force over successive swings. 228
  • His early mastery was incomplete; after thirty-six layers, his stacking rate slowed sharply and left him vulnerable to Wu Qi’s superior movement. 229
  • He later displayed unusually refined Clear Sky Hammer combat ability while receiving Tang Hao’s Sound Transmission guidance during a tournament match. 260 261
  • Tang Xiao identified the Haotian Nine Absolutes and Great Sumeru Hammer as higher Clear Sky Hammer inheritances, though the latter could only be personally transmitted by Tang Chen. 306 307

Hidden Weapons

Tang San manufactures and uses concealed Tang Sect weapons with exceptional speed and precision.

  • Filled the arena with Hidden Weapons to overwhelm the Royal Fight Team after Xiao Wu was injured. 93
  • Presented the Godly Zhuge Crossbow and Silent Sleeve Arrow to Wu Qi as repayment for his assistance in the Star Dou Great Forest. 51
  • His lack of rare metals and financial support later prevented him from producing many of the Tang Sect’s highest-ranked weapons. 509

Medicine

Tang San possesses medical knowledge inherited from the Bashu Tang Sect and later medical texts.

  • Diagnoses pulse conditions and martial-soul-related bodily problems. 118 139
  • Earned Tang Yuehua’s trust by treating difficult cases in Heaven Dou City. 399 400
  • Entered the Heaven Dou Royal Palace as Tang Yin to examine Emperor Xue Ye’s compound poisoning. 405 406

Sea God Power

Tang San underwent the Sea God’s assessments on Sea God Island.

  • His original Sea God’s Nine Trials regressed to Red-level Nine Trials because he lacked the Heart of Poseidon. 448
  • Completed the first three exams before returning to the continent as a Soul Douluo. 498
  • Completed the Eighth Exam and later broke through to Level 100, though he never received the Sea God’s divine position. 570 618
  • Wields the Poseidon Trident, using its Divine Power to disperse several Worships’ Ninth Soul Skills. 620
  • Lacked divine trident techniques and Divine Skills, leaving him unable to effectively contend with three true deities. 621

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Twenty-Four Bridges Under the Moon — Soul Tool used to store Hidden Weapons, materials, and blueprints. 50 51
  • Godly Zhuge Crossbow — powerful Hidden Weapon demonstrated to Wu Qi. 51
  • Silent Sleeve Arrow — compact Hidden Weapon given to Wu Qi’s group. 51
  • Poseidon Trident — Divine Artifact used after Tang San reached Level 100. 620
  • Medicinal herb case — carried while entering the Heaven Dou Royal Palace as Tang Yin. 405

Relationships

  • Xiao Wu — His closest companion and primary motivation during the Star Dou Great Forest incident; her abduction drove him to beg Wu Qi for aid. 46
  • Tang Hao — Father and the Clear Sky Douluo. Tang San sought his approval to cultivate the Clear Sky Hammer and was deeply affected by his death. 191 286
  • Ah Yin — Mother and former Blue Silver Emperor. Her bloodline enabled Tang San’s Blue Silver Emperor awakening. 287 306
  • Tang Xiao — Paternal uncle, Clear Sky Sect leader, and Tang San’s instructor in the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. 298
  • Tang Yuehua — Paternal aunt who sheltered him at Moonlight Pavilion, helped repair his meridians, and supported his false identity as Tang Yin. 288 293 311
  • Yu Xiaogang — Early teacher. Tang San once trusted him deeply, but later maintained respect largely because Yu Xiaogang’s knowledge of Spirit Hall remained useful. 191 572
  • Tai Tan — Loyal Strength Clan elder who pledged allegiance to Tang San, trained with him, and assisted his search for family inheritances. 166 303
  • Tang Chen — Great-grandfather and bearer of the Great Sumeru Hammer inheritance. Tang San rescued him from the City of Slaughter. 307 618
  • Wu Qi — Rival whose strength repeatedly drove Tang San to seek greater power; Tang San later named him a foremost target for revenge. 153 570
  • Sea Dragon Douluo — Sea God Island ally who accompanied Tang San back to the continent and aided his search for the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud; he was later killed in the war. 571 620
  • Dai Mubai — Shrek ally and political partner. Tang San supported his effort to regain favor in the Star Luo royal succession in exchange for future alliance. 590

Story Role / Major Arcs

Search for Xiao Wu and the Third Soul Ring

While pursuing the Titan Giant Ape after Xiao Wu’s abduction, Tang San was overwhelmed by a two-thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider. Wu Qi’s group intervened indirectly, then led Tang San to a Thorned Demon Vine, from which he gained his Third Soul Ring instead of the Man Faced Demon Spider ring Yu Xiaogang had intended for him. 46 50

Tournament Rivalry

Tang San sought to become strong enough to lead the Shrek Seven Devils and compete with Wu Qi. His determination pushed him toward dangerous cultivation choices, including seeking a Ten-Thousand-Year Fourth Ring and beginning Clear Sky Hammer cultivation. 153 191

During the Soul Master Tournament, he revealed the Clear Sky Hammer publicly and fought Wu Qi using Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. Wu Qi exploited Tang San’s incomplete mastery, forced him to the ground, and eliminated him. 224 228 229

Loss of Tang Hao and Bloodline Awakening

After Tang Hao’s death, Tang San endured imprisonment, cultivation damage, and a period of dependence on Tang Yuehua and Tai Tan. He recovered his meridians, met Tang Xiao, and learned that Ah Yin’s heritage made his Blue Silver Grass a dormant Blue Silver Emperor. 286 287 293

Tang Xiao escorted him to the Blue Silver Forest, where the Blue Silver King completed Tang San’s second martial-soul awakening and recognized him as the Blue Silver Grass clan’s new emperor. 306

Tang Sect and Sea God Trials

Tang San founded the Tang Sect as an independent continuation of his previous life’s inheritance. He sought recruits, financial independence, and military customers for the sect’s Hidden Weapons rather than allowing it to become a Clear Sky Sect vassal. 499 501

He then traveled to Sea God Island to pursue divine inheritance, completing multiple trials and returning as a Soul Douluo. The destruction of Sea God Island endangered his path to the Sea God’s divine position and intensified his resolve against Spirit Hall. 498 605

Final War

Tang San returned to the continent, advanced through Title Douluo and Peak Level 97, and eventually reached Level 100 without obtaining the Sea God’s divine position. 571 585 618

At Star Luo City, he intervened with the Poseidon Trident to save Clear Sky Sect forces from Spirit Hall’s Worships. Wu Qi, Qian Renxue, and Feng Xiaotian then confronted him as three deities. Unable to escape Wu Qi’s Domain of Destruction or counter their Divine Skills, Tang San was trapped in the Cage of Silence and had his body shattered. 620 621
