Liu Zhi had no idea that the scorpion he had set his sights on was the commander of this airlift combat group, a hero unit among the Zerg.

He had become the commander not because he possessed any special talent, but because the Brain Bugs and the others being transported with them were all inside the Overlords' bellies, in a state of semi-hibernation.

They couldn't fight, let alone know what was happening outside. That meant they needed a commander who could oversee the whole situation.

Without Brain Bugs, the Zerg's elite hero units were naturally the best choice.

Compared with the other cannon fodder, hero units had some judgment of their own. They could make different choices in different situations.

Of course, their abilities couldn't compare with those of Brain Bugs. But looking at the situation before it, the scorpion had immediately realized what needed to be done.

At the scorpion's shriek, all the Mutalisks drew back, while the Suicide Bats that had been held in reserve flew out and charged straight at the Banshi Beast.

The Mutalisks retreated toward the Overlords behind them. In the scorpion's eyes, Liu Zhi was only one person. Although he had stopped the Zerg's advance, he wasn't much of a threat. The fighter jets closing in from behind, on the other hand, were the real danger.

Their arrival meant that the humans had discovered the battlefield. If the Zerg let their guard down for even a moment, more and more humans would soon arrive. By then, they wouldn't even have a chance to escape.

So the Mutalisks had to buy the Overlords time to get moving.
