Demon Jr. and the World Martial Arts Tournament

Piccolo first appears as Demon Jr., wearing a heavy white weighted cloak and turban to conceal his identity. He is identified as the reincarnation of the Demon King and faces Krillin during the World Martial Arts Tournament. Krillin defeats him without killing him, preserving Kami's life and the Dragon Balls; Piccolo subsequently leaves the tournament in frustration. 14 27 29

Saiyan Invasion and Namek

Raditz recognizes Piccolo as a Namekian and initially dismisses him as an Earthbound exile. Piccolo later forms a reluctant alliance with Goku against Raditz, charging his Special Beam Cannon while Goku restrains their enemy. The beam nearly kills Raditz and pierces a distant mountain after missing its intended target. 59 63
