Background / History

The Human Realm originated when the Goddess slew the Human Emperor Soul Type and used its body to create a new world. The Goddess and major cultivation-world sects migrated humans into it, while the Twelve Spirits later took residence there to suppress the Human Emperor Soul Type's recurring will 193 234.

Three thousand years before the Dragon Emperor era, an unprecedented Earth Dragon Turns Over shattered the Human Race's heartland. The disaster killed more than half of the Human Race, destroyed over a dozen nations, and produced the political landscape of the Ten Nations and Twelve Veins 101. The core territory remained cut off and became associated with a curse that prevented lasting unification 149.

The last Human Emperor, Qi, attempted to replace the Heavenly Heart with his own will by exploiting the Dragon and Snake Veins. His failure devastated the Chen Dragon and Si Snake Veins and appears to have breached the realm's protective boundary, leaving the core territory connected to Beyond Heaven 170.

Three hundred years before Su Qingqiu's rise, the Human Race's Divine Demon-realm cultivators expelled ten-thousand-year Spirit Lords from the Ten Nations. Many of the exiles later became Demons or sought to return from Beyond Heaven 71 98 116.

Ao Qing's conquest reunited the Ten Nations, displaced the Human Dao with the Dragon Dao, and ultimately restored the separated core territory. This reunification became known as the Human Realm Epoch 176 203.

Geography and Structure

Ten Nations and Twelve Veins

Before its unification, the Human Realm was divided among the Ten Nations and Twelve Veins. The system arose after the destruction of the original core territory and persisted for roughly three millennia 101 149.

• The realm includes the Three Rivers, Sixteen Prefectures, Five Lakes, Four Seas, and the territories of the Ten Nations 195 203.
• The Great Wasteland was historically home to the weakened Si Snake Vein 170.
• The Human Realm lies in the desolate borderlands of Tai Xuan, where worlds and resources are scarce but major Demons are comparatively uncommon 220.

Core Territory

The original Human Race core territory became a sealed, self-contained expanse after the ancient catastrophe. It contained white, faceless imitation people and cities with no detectable life force 170 171.

• The core's world membrane contained eleven giant loopholes through which Beyond Heaven entities could enter; Snake Abyss was identified as an additional loophole, suggesting a total of twelve 173.
• Faceless beings entered through these breaches in search of emotions left by Chen Dragon's death 173.
• The core territory was restored to the Human Realm during Ao Qing's campaign, ending its three-thousand-year separation 203.

Three Realms

Ao Qing's reforms transformed the Human Realm into a three-layered structure:

• Heavenly Realm — a newly created upper realm intended to select and house exceptional cultivators 219 223.
• Human Realm — the middle mortal realm, containing the Human Dao and serving as the center of reincarnation 198 264.
• Earthly Realm / Netherworld — the realm of the dead within and beneath the Earth Veins, governed through the Six Paths of Reincarnation 194 198.

Governance

Dragon Dao

After the Ten Nations were unified, the Dragon Dao became the realm's governing order. Faith in the Dragon Emperor was expressed through longevity tablets, offerings, and petitions to the Dragon Court 181.

The Dragon Dao's three principal branches are:

• Godly Dao Dragon Court — manages the Dragon Emperor's faith, monitors the other systems, and handles demons and ghosts 164 181.
• Netherworld — governs Ghost Gods, yin-yang authority, death, and reincarnation 194 198.
• Human Dao Imperial Capital — administers mortal affairs 181.

Human Emperors

Following the realm's reforging, twelve Human Emperor crowns were created: Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, and Hai 264.

• Each Human Emperor may rule for five hundred years before entering reincarnation 264.
• The crowns select successors based on contribution to the Human Realm, character, and imperial aura 264.
• This system replaced the former model of a single permanent Human Emperor 264.

Threats

• Human Emperor Soul Type — The foundational Soul Type's residual will repeatedly attempts to revive through white lights scattered across the realm, destabilizing the Netherworld and threatening its inhabitants 198 234.
• Beyond Heaven — The realm's damaged membrane permits Soul Types, Demons, and other anomalies to infiltrate. Beings entering Beyond Heaven suffer severe suppression and pollution from its twisted rules 165 173.
• Faceless Evil God — Its Faceless beings infiltrated the core territory through the breached membrane; even destroyed Faceless beings may return to the Faceless Kingdom and be resurrected 173.
• Bronze Gate — A mysterious gate appeared within the Human Realm 13,700 years ago. It is connected to the ancient crisis surrounding the Goddess and remains associated with unknown dangers 234.
• Eternal Night — The coming Eternal Night was expected to be far more destructive than prior cycles, with the potential to cause realm-wide disasters and mass displacement 211.

• The Goddess — Creator of the Human Realm; slew the Human Emperor Soul Type, migrated humanity into the new world, and worked with the Twelve Spirits to stabilize it 181 193 234.
