Background and History
Mito was a combatant of the Uzumaki Clan during the Warring States period and later married Hashirama Senju, Konoha's First Hokage. After his death, she remained an influential figure in the Senju Clan 3 97 296.
When Tobirama Senju was killed, Mito questioned his chosen successor, Hiruzen Sarutobi. She ordered Hiruzen's party to remain in the Senju Clan Land and keep Tobirama's death secret while she addressed the succession crisis. Her chief concern was persuading the Senju Clan—already accustomed to producing Hokage—to accept a successor from outside the clan 2 3 12.
Appearance
Mito has well-maintained red hair. When she stepped forward to fight Uchiha Nan, she put on armor she had not worn in a long time 33 150.

Personality
Mito is protective of both her family and Konoha. She challenges Nan after Hiruzen and Danzō are killed, partly to defend the village and her son Toma's future. She later accepts a damaging agreement for the Senju Clan when Nan threatens to expose Toma's human experimentation and promises to help save him 33 150.
She is particularly protective of Uzumaki Yangyue, whom she treats like a granddaughter. Mito teaches her sealing jutsu and resists attempts to use her as a marriage alliance with Nan 111 135. Despite her frequent arguments with Nan, Mito works with him on Konoha's power plant and helps him learn sealing jutsu 84 191.

Nine-Tails chakra
