History
The Third Mizukage dispatched the Seven Ninja Swordsmen into the Land of Fire to assassinate Jiraiya before Kirigakure’s main invasion. Yuki Yoru’s ANBU squad was assigned to draw Konoha’s attention away from the operation, but Jiraiya reached the front lines while the swordsmen instead encountered Might Duy 1 12 17.
Duy killed four of the seven, including Kushimaru Kuriarare, Munashi Jinpachi and Jinin Akebino. Kushimaru’s final request to Yoru was to bring the ninja swords back to Kirigakure. Yoru killed Duy and helped the three surviving swordsmen—Pipa Jūzō, Suikazan Fuguki and Raiga Kurosuki—escape, but Konoha pursued them to Kumamoto Prefecture. All three subsequently died, leaving the original group wiped out 14 15 16 17 26.
Yoru recovered four swords and reported the loss of the other three to Karatachi Yagura. Given authority over the recovered blades, he offered them to members of his former ANBU squad. Ringo Yurui took Nuibari and Hōzuki Mangetsu took Hiramekarei; Fuyuna Yukiko and Uzumaki Yumi declined swords 26 27.
After Kirigakure regained the three swords lost at Kumamoto, Yoru planned another redistribution. To reduce the risk of losing them again, he proposed placing Space Marks on all seven and making matching Summoning Scrolls. He later formally entrusted Samehada to Kisame Hoshigaki 90 130 132.
