Chen Qingzhou once served as a personal guard under Ye Yun's grandfather, Commander Ye. He retired from military service after being injured and later became a constable in Chun'an County. Fifteen years after his service, he recognized Ye Yun's inherited Mountain-Crushing Saber Technique and connected him to the Ye family. 40

By the time of the Woniu Mountain bandit crisis, he was a Ninth Rank Constable Captain responsible for Chun'an's constables. He investigated a massacred village and helped organize the local response to the escalating bandit raids. 3

Chen Qingzhou investigates the bandit-linked village massacre and joins the campaign against Black Wind Ridge. He and Zhao Meng eventually capture Zhang Kui, though Chen suffers a sword wound through his left shoulder. 3 4 6
