The Dragon Slayer Eventually Became the Evil Dragon! (Thanks to Alliance Leader Waterweed Never Withers)
Luo Zhou let out a long breath and fixed his sights on the 13th of the Month Devil.
None of it had been in vain.
He looked at Wang Xiaoya's Dead Spirit and said:
"Don't worry. I'll kill him and avenge you!"
"If I can't kill him, I'll descend into the Avici Hell and never be reborn!"
The Dead Spirit gave no response. Luo Zhou left.
The next day was the tenth day of the sixth month. There were still twenty-three days!
Now that he had a goal, Luo Zhou was fired up.
There wasn't much time left. Four Woodworm Devils remained!
Luo Zhou was getting anxious too!
But Li Haitian was different from the other Woodworm Devils. Through the Dead Spirit, Luo Zhou could learn everything about them.
He knew nothing about Li Haitian's exact situation.
He would observe first and look for an opportunity. When the time came, he would kill him with one strike.
The enemy was in the open while he stayed in the shadows. No problem.
Starting that day, Luo Zhou began observing Li Haitian.
He found him and followed him...
But easier said than done!
As a constable, Li Haitian wasn't like the other constables, who just coasted along and ignored their duties.
He loved solving cases and spent all day rushing around the city.
Luo Zhou followed him discreetly, but soon discovered that Li Haitian was extremely vigilant.
Even a distant glance was enough to alert him, let alone following him from behind.
Luo Zhou used his Keen Dharma Eye to observe from afar, but Li Haitian immediately sensed him and started searching for whoever was tracking him.
Fortunately, they were far apart. Otherwise, Li Haitian would have cornered Luo Zhou.
This meant that even at close range, Luo Zhou couldn't lock onto him with his Keen Dharma Eye. The Dragon-Slaying Thrust couldn't be activated at all.
Killing Li Haitian would be incredibly difficult.
On the eleventh day of the sixth month, Zuo Sanguang recovered and was full of energy again.
Luo Zhou hadn't gone to school for several days, so Zuo Sanguang came looking for him.
Every time Luo Zhou used him, he gave him Broken Spirits. The two of them had developed an unspoken understanding.
Zuo Sanguang's arrival made Luo Zhou's eyes light up. "Come on, let's go play heroes of justice!"
"It's been days since we last played. Let's go. Which classmate are we picking on?"
Luo Zhou chuckled. "This time it's not one of our classmates. It's a grown-up!"
"A grown-up?"
Their targets were Bald Wang's brothers, Wang Qiang and Wang Gang.
The two had been beaten up by Liu Jinpeng over an inheritance dispute, and the authorities had done nothing. They were seething with resentment.
Luo Zhou had approached them a couple of days earlier, hiring them as laborers to haul bricks for a shop he was supposedly opening. He gave them some odd jobs to keep them busy and paid them generously. At last, the two brothers were living the good life.
When they saw their employer arrive, they bowed and scraped, overjoyed.
Luo Zhou smiled. "You've done good work lately. Keep it up for the next few days.
"You're both idle right now. How about playing a game with me, uncles?"
Wang Qiang and Wang Gang had no idea what Luo Zhou was up to, but their employer had given the order, so they had to cooperate.
"See my classmate here?
"Pretend to be bandits. Curse at him, yell at him, threaten to kill him. Just give him a couple of light hits!"
Though they didn't understand why, Wang Qiang and Wang Gang surrounded Zuo Sanguang and started shouting:
"Hey, kid! This is a robbery. Your money or your life?"
"Hand over all your money!"
"No money? Then hurry up and take off your pants!"
They shoved him around and hurled abuse. Zuo Sanguang was used to this sort of thing, so he immediately cried out for help in his heart:
"Help! There are two old geezers, real lowlifes, trying to rob me and make me take off my pants! Somebody come save me!"
Luo Zhou smiled, walked over, and kicked each of the two men once, then slapped them each across the face.
They reeled in a daze. Why was he really hitting them?
Luo Zhou gave each of them five taels of silver, and they were overjoyed again.
They wouldn't have minded if he'd hit them a little harder!
Luo Zhou also gave Zuo Sanguang ten Broken Spirits, and Zuo Sanguang left happily.
The reason Luo Zhou had brought in Wang Qiang and Wang Gang was that Bald Wang could produce a Vortex Guard. Though the two were his cousins, they shared the same bloodline. Surely that would help, right?
Sure enough, at midnight, Luo Zhou felt as though he were lost in a vast ocean tide. Towering waves swept across the land, destroying everything in their path!
"Water..."
"Wave, whirl, vortex, surge, swell, float, flow, wellspring, tide..."
"Overturning Rivers and Seas, towering waves reaching the heavens!"
"Rewarding Good!"
"Rewarding the special abilities Tidal Wave and Surging Blast, two of the nine special abilities that compose the divine ability Overturning Rivers and Seas!"
Luo Zhou was delighted. Just as he'd thought, the Wang brothers had rewarded him with two special abilities.
Tidal Wave made a ripple of water appear beneath his feet, carrying him along and increasing his running and walking speed.
However, this ability was far inferior to Continuous Stride, and he could use it only three times a day.
Surging Blast was similar to Berserk. It boosted his strength, reflexes, and all five senses.
But it lasted only ten breaths before fading on its own. Since water had no fixed form, there was no backlash from fatigue either. He could use this one three times a day as well.
Together with Float and Avoid, converted from Water Avoidance Technique, and Flow and Control, converted from Water Control Technique, he now had five of the nine special abilities.
In a few days, once Zuo Sanguang recovered, he could keep trying to extract special abilities from the Wang brothers.
Luo Zhou had a feeling he could extract this divine ability from them.
It was their family's bloodline divine ability, after all. Extracting it from them made perfect sense!
It was the twelfth day of the sixth month. There were still twenty-one days!
Cheng Wanli sent someone to summon Luo Zhou. There was work to do.
Cheng Wanli had gathered enough men and was preparing to go to war with the Sanjiang Gang.
He wanted Luo Zhou to curse one of their five leaders to death: Zhang Meng.
Zhang Meng had reached the pinnacle of Body Tempering and possessed the Copper Head and Iron Skin talent. He had also practiced the external martial art Golden Bell Cover Iron Cloth, making him incredibly hard to injure. That was why Cheng Wanli had asked Luo Zhou to curse him to death.
Luo Zhou agreed, but insisted that he could only act when the two of them were alone in a sealed-off place, with no one else watching.
Cheng Wanli agreed and made the necessary arrangements.
Zhang Meng had a lover he visited every three to five days. That was their opportunity.
That evening, Cheng Yubo came to lead the way, guiding Luo Zhou quietly to a residence.
It was the home of Zhang Meng's lover. The guards, servants, and mistress had all already been taken care of.
Luo Zhou waited there. When Zhang Meng arrived, they would be alone together, giving him the chance to curse him to death.
Luo Zhou nodded and waited at the residence.
Zhang Meng had killed countless people and committed every imaginable evil.
Luo Zhou had specifically sought out the places where he had killed people, but there were no Dead Spirits.
Without a Dead Spirit, he couldn't activate the Crossing the Netherworld reward method or receive a Rewarding Good and Punishing Evil reward.
Luo Zhou found it strange. Was his Crossing the Netherworld reward method only effective against Woodworm Devils?
But Crocodile Dragons had Dead Spirits. Could it be that Zhang Meng had no Dead Spirit because he hadn't reached the Qi Refining stage?
Or perhaps Crocodile Dragons had Dead Spirits despite not being human or Woodworm Devils?
In any case, he wouldn't waste time thinking about it this time. He waited quietly.
At the second watch of the night, footsteps sounded outside the courtyard.
Zhang Meng arrived, and he wasn't alone. He had brought two guards with him.
But when they reached the courtyard, the old housekeeper at his lover's home led the guards away. Zhang Meng entered alone.
The old housekeeper had probably been bribed, or was an impostor. He hadn't let a single clue slip.
Luo Zhou smiled, picked up an Eyebrow-Level Staff, and drew the Dragon-Slaying Thrust from within it.
He waited in silence!
Zhang Meng seemed to have just finished drinking heavily. He staggered as he walked, pushed open the door, and entered the room.
The moment he spotted Luo Zhou, he froze.
He said nothing. Golden light burst across his body as he activated his Golden Bell Cover Iron Cloth, then immediately charged.
His battle experience was astonishingly rich!
Even staggering drunk, he could still fight.
There was no need for pointless talk. They would fight to the death, one of them killing the other!
Luo Zhou stood perfectly still. As Zhang Meng entered within two zhang, he suddenly attacked.
The Dragon-Slaying Thrust shot out in an instant, blazing and dissolving into a strange kind of primordial energy that gathered into a pinpoint of spiritual light.
It struck Zhang Meng's right eye. His Golden Bell Cover Iron Cloth was utterly useless!
It pierced his external defenses, his Golden Bell Cover, his Iron Cloth, then passed through his eye and into his brain. Yet Zhang Meng's head didn't explode.
His Body Tempering cultivation had made his defenses powerful.
But his brain was pulverized. He collapsed with a thud and died!
Though he was dead, his body continued to twitch.
Luo Zhou let out a long breath. He didn't approach, waiting until Zhang Meng had stopped moving completely.
Only then did he go over. This time, he could search the body.
Luo Zhou examined Zhang Meng's corpse carefully. He found a pouch of Broken Spirits and three bottles of pills.
There were a full three thousand three hundred Broken Spirits. The pills were Spirit Yang Pills, best suited for Body Tempering cultivators.
When there were a hundred Broken Spirits, they were strung together with fine thread like a string of coins, making them easier to count.
Luo Zhou's total had now returned to twelve thousand Broken Spirits.
He was quite satisfied. There was no need to break the corpse's seven orifices and make it look like he'd cursed Zhang Meng to death.
He simply used Corpse Dissolving Powder to melt the body.
After taking care of everything, Luo Zhou left the courtyard.
Cheng Yubo had been waiting outside the whole time. The guards Zhang Meng had brought were already headless corpses.
The treacherous housekeeper had been killed too.
When Cheng Yubo saw Luo Zhou come out, he gave him a thumbs-up.
With Zhang Meng dead, Cheng Wanli had one less enemy and a much better chance of winning.
Luo Zhou returned home. Midnight passed, and naturally, there was no Punishing Evil reward. He let out a long sigh.
He had only one Dragon-Slaying Thrust left. He took out the Spirit Wood he had bought last time and prepared to refine two more.
This time, he used Water Tide Energy.
The birchwood had been worth every penny. The refining went off without a hitch, and the resulting Dragon-Slaying Thrusts were even more powerful.
Once he was done, he had six streams of Geomagnetic Qi, two streams of Water Tide Energy, three streams of Heavy Dust Qi, and one stream of Three Eyes Qi remaining.
If he used up all three Dragon-Slaying Thrusts, he wouldn't have any more spiritual energy coming in. He'd have to go back to using Broken Spirits.
Dragon-Slaying Thrusts refined from Broken Spirits were dreadful to use and weak to boot. Absolutely not.
Next time he hunted a dragon, he would only strike if it was a Crocodile Dragon with a Dead Spirit!
On the thirteenth day of the sixth month, the Dragon Fang Troop won a complete victory. The previous night, they had killed the Sanjiang Gang's five leaders and wiped out the gang.
But Cheng Wanli renamed the Dragon Fang Troop the Dragon Fang Gang and took over the Sanjiang Gang's territory completely.
The dragon slayer had, in the end, become the evil dragon!
Luo Zhou had been prepared for this. It had no effect on him.
Soon it was the fifteenth day of the sixth month. There were still eighteen days when the Full Moon Devil appeared.
The Full Moon Devil wasn't human at all. It was a true demon. Luo Zhou wasn't certain he could kill it, so he absolutely wouldn't make a move.
Even with such a terrifying Woodworm Devil around, some people still refused to believe the warnings.
On the night of the fifteenth, a few pedestrians were still wandering around. In the end, the Full Moon Devil killed one of them at a crossroads...
At the crime scene, Luo Zhou suddenly saw the light and thought of a way to deal with Li Haitian.
Li Haitian was constantly on guard, taking every possible precaution. There hadn't been a single opportunity.
But there was one moment when he would let down his guard.
That was at a crime scene!
Whenever a crime occurred, he focused on investigating and studying the case. In that moment, he let his guard down completely.
He had handled the death at the crossroads this time, and that was how Luo Zhou discovered this weakness.
To be honest, exploiting it was rather underhanded.
If Li Haitian weren't the 13th of the Month Devil, he would be a good constable, diligently investigating cases, catching criminals, and protecting the people.
A gentleman could be tricked by his principles.
But when he thought of Wang Xiaoya, and the two hundred and thirty-five people who had died at the hands of the 13th of the Month Devil, Li Haitian had to die!
Luo Zhou began plotting, studying the details bit by bit. Gradually, a plan took shape in secret!
