Background

Fang Ningshuang was one of several maids at a Heaven and Earth Dao Sect peak. Immortal Nan Chun selected her as an expendable candidate for a forced fusion with a suspected Nine Heavens Ten Lands Blood Parrot, reasoning that Fang's limited expected potential made her death an acceptable loss. The parrot proved to be a defective specimen rather than the coveted Devil Master's pet Nan Chun hoped for, and Fang was expelled and crippled soon afterward. 24 26

Her father, City Lord Fang Daoqi, brought her back to Green Ridge City rather than allow her reincarnation. By then, Fang had become the first person consumed by the Blood Parrot; her remaining Dead Spirit was fused with it and struggled to survive under its control. 24 26

For three years, the Blood Parrot preyed on people during the full moon, making Fang the feared Full Moon Devil. Its hunger sustained her existence, but its influence left her starving, mentally unstable, and liable to attack those close to her. She tore off her younger brother's arm during one such episode. Luo Zhou encountered Fang while attempting to lure the Blood Parrot with Purple Crickets. Though she initially sought an excuse to kill him, his presence and their conversations gradually subdued her episodes. As they spent time together, Luo learned of her suffering and recognized her as a Dead Spirit. 23 24

Fang voluntarily linked minds with Luo in an effort to share her pain. The connection briefly restored her clarity but disrupted the formation sustaining her existence, causing her to collapse toward death. Refusing to return to her deranged state, she suppressed the Blood Parrot's defenses and ordered Luo to kill it. She then used her Curse Master power to finish the creature after Luo's Dragon-Slaying Thrust shattered its head. 25 26

After Fang dissipated, she appeared among the seventy-one freed Dead Spirits, thanked Luo, and entered reincarnation under the protection of her sect mark. Her fate became Luo's reason for swearing vengeance against Immortal Nan Chun. 25 26
