In the bedroom area,

Then he laid the six 2.1-meter planks across the legs.
That made a wooden bed 30 centimeters high, 1.2 meters wide, and 2.1 meters long.
Once the bed was finished, Wang Yu lay down on it.
The planks had no gaps and were thick and heavy, so lying on them felt no different from lying on one solid piece of wood.
Wang Yu shifted around as he pleased, but the planks didn't budge.
Ten-centimeter-thick cedar wood really did make a good bed.
Now that he had built a bed, he'd never have to sleep on the ground again.

Wang Yu carried them all down and sawed them to 2.8 meters long.
He planned to use them to make a small partition, to keep the first floor tidy and prevent fires.
The fireplace was on the first floor, which would also be his living space.
A wood-burning fireplace meant firewood would inevitably end up scattered around. A small partition would give him somewhere to store the firewood and keep the first floor clean.
It would also help prevent fires.
If firewood was scattered everywhere, one stray spark could set it alight.
The inside of the shelter was made of wood. A fire would be disastrous.
