After dividing up the first-floor area of the shelter, Wang Yu still had three Large Logs on top of the boulder. He had already decided what to do with them.
Wang Yu climbed onto the boulder.
He lit the Second Oil Lamp. The kerosene in the First Oil Lamp had run out.
With the area lit, Wang Yu began working on the three Large Logs.
The Large Logs were 5.45 meters long. Wang Yu sawed one of them into 11 sections, each about 50 centimeters long.
Then he used the Small Hacksaw to cut a groove 10 centimeters long and 5 centimeters deep into each of the other two logs.
He cut 11 grooves into each log.
Next, he sawed a notch 10 centimeters long and 5 centimeters deep into both ends of each of the 11 sections.
After cutting all 11 pieces, Wang Yu laid the two logs parallel to each other and fitted the ends of the 11 pieces into the grooves on either side.
Then Wang Yu pounded the 11 pieces with the Large Wooden Mallet, wedging them tightly into the grooves.
And with that, Wang Yu had made a wooden ladder.
This ladder was much bigger than the previous one, but having the Small Hacksaw meant it took far less time to make.
The Small Hacksaw cut grooves in wood several times faster than the Entrenching Tool.
After finishing the Large Wooden Ladder, Wang Yu hauled the Small Wooden Ladder up onto the boulder, then lowered the Large Wooden Ladder through the Giant Rock Notch and into the shelter.
The Giant Rock Notch was 4.1 meters high, and the Large Wooden Ladder was 5.45 meters long, so it sloped very gently when lowered.
Holding the Oil Lamp, Wang Yu climbed down the Large Wooden Ladder to the shelter's first floor. It was much easier to descend than the Small Wooden Ladder.
The Large Wooden Ladder was too heavy to move around, so he would leave it inside the shelter as a permanent ladder.
That was all the Small Wooden Ladder was good for, anyway.
He would still need the Small Wooden Ladder to get up and down the Giant Rock Notch from outside the shelter. With two ladders, getting in and out of the shelter was much more convenient.
That used up all five bundles of timber.
He had spent two whole days "renovating" the shelter, and now the work was finally done for the time being.
The shelter should be fine to live in for as long as he needed.
There were still plenty of small wooden boards on the ground. They were scraps left over from sawing the 38 Large Wooden Planks into pieces, and were only good for firewood.
Wang Yu picked up two small boards from the ground and put them in the fireplace. The firewood inside blazed up again.
Then he picked up all the remaining small pieces of wood and stacked them neatly in the little compartment.
By the time he had cleaned up the floor, it was already late. Wang Yu lay down on the wooden bed and fell asleep.
Another exhausting day.
The shelter now had a fireplace and a thick layer of wooden planks overhead, making the first floor warm. Wang Yu fell asleep as soon as he lay down.
A little after three in the morning, the alarm rang again.
Wang Yu woke up. It was time to use Dice-Increased Quantity again.
He took out the Crossbows he had prepared earlier. The reason he wanted to increase their quantity was that the shelter was more or less finished, and next he planned to leave it and explore farther afield.
He needed to find food, berries, and dry firewood.
He had been staying close to the shelter recently and keeping a Big Fire Pit blazing. Naturally, no wild animals had dared approach. If he went out to look for food, the chances of being attacked by wild animals would rise considerably.
Wang Yu wanted to increase the number of Crossbows to give himself an extra measure of safety.
He tied a Crossbow and three arrows together, then rolled the Dice.
The Dice began to spin.
At last, it landed on two.

"Seriously..."
Well, Wang Yu could only accept it. He had rolled a five on each of the previous two nights, but it seemed his luck had run out on the third.
He took out the two newly added Crossbows and six arrows. He now had three Crossbows and nine arrows in all.
After putting away the Crossbows, Wang Yu went back to sleep.
Eight in the morning.
Wang Yu got up early. Today was the fourth day since he had entered the Survival Game.
After getting up, Wang Yu began preparing breakfast.
He had 38 portions of Water Snail Meat at 10g each, one portion of Rabbit Meat at 200g, five portions of Pincer Fish Meat at 213g each, and 25 portions of Wild Rat Meat at 360g each, weighing 18 jin in total.
Wang Yu decided to have grilled fish for breakfast. He added firewood to the fireplace, took out 213g of Pincer Fish Meat, and started grilling it.
While the fish cooked, Wang Yu checked the messages in the Chat Channel.
He saw that many other players were still building their shelters. Putting up a shelter in the wilderness wasn't easy, so it seemed he had done pretty well to build one in just two days.
Once the fish was cooked, he ate breakfast.
Wang Yu climbed up the Large Wooden Ladder and through the Giant Rock Notch.
It was pitch-black outside. He looked at the top of the shelter, which was still open. He had left it that way on purpose.
He intended to use the second floor as a Firewood Room and planned to pile it full of firewood before sealing the top of the shelter.
Otherwise, once the shelter was sealed, the only way in and out would be the small opening formed by the notch, making it very inconvenient to carry firewood inside.
Wang Yu had already worked out how to seal the top of the shelter.
He had found a large slab of blue-gray stone beside a nearby stream. He could use Dice-Increased Quantity to make more of them, then cover the top of the shelter with one to seal it.
Having the Dice in Right Hand certainly made building a shelter much easier.
Wang Yu lowered the Small Wooden Ladder from the top of the boulder, then climbed down it to the outside of the shelter.
After leaving the shelter, Wang Yu went to a point ten meters in front of a Big Tree. He took out the three Crossbows, loaded them with arrows, then put two loaded Crossbows into his Backpack.
He had one Crossbow left in his hands. He raised it, aimed at the Big Tree ten meters away, and pulled the trigger.
"Whoosh!"
"Thwack!"
The arrow struck the Big Tree ahead.
Wang Yu immediately put the Crossbow in his Backpack, then took out one of the loaded Crossbows and pulled the trigger. The arrow hit the tree again.
Next, Wang Yu put the Crossbow back in his Backpack, took out the other loaded Crossbow, and pulled the trigger, hitting the tree once more.
In three or four seconds, Wang Yu had fired three arrows.
"Not bad, not bad."
Firing three arrows in such a short time greatly increased his combat ability.
Then Wang Yu didn't put the Crossbow away. Instead, he quickly took an arrow from his Backpack, pulled back the bowstring, loaded the arrow, and fired at the tree.
That took four or five seconds.
It seemed that loading arrows took quite a while.
Wang Yu had three Crossbows. If he loaded them, put them in his Backpack, and fired them in turn, he could shoot three arrows in three or four seconds. That was much faster than firing one arrow, reloading, and then firing another.
After firing one arrow, Wang Yu didn't stop. He took another arrow from his Backpack, loaded it, and continued shooting at the Big Tree.
Wang Yu wanted to practice loading arrows faster.
At the very least, he needed to get used to loading arrows and aiming at his target.
After firing all nine arrows, Wang Yu took out the three Crossbows and loaded them all again. Then he put two of the loaded Crossbows into his Backpack.
Wang Yu practiced another round, first firing three arrows in a row, then loading an arrow and shooting at the Big Tree.
After practicing for over half an hour, Wang Yu had become much more familiar with using the Crossbow.
