"If I cannot reach that legendary realm, I will listen to you and find someone to pass on my bloodline to." Qian Renhan raised his sword again and resumed sparring with Qian Daoliu.
Qian Daoliu opened his mouth, then stopped himself from saying what came next. In truth, he preferred that Qian Renhan not have children. He could not find a girl with a light-type Martial Soul capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with the Fallen Angel, not even one a tier below it.
At that very moment, inside one of Spirit Hall's Awakening Halls.
A voice filled with delight rang out from the Awakening Master. "A top-grade Martial Soul, the Heavenly Fox! Innate Soul Power at level nine, close to level ten. Based on my many years of experience awakening Martial Souls, your Innate Soul Power should be around level 9.7."
"Little girl, what is your name?"
The Awakening Master asked again. He had to register such a genius and report her to Spirit Hall for proper training. A child raised in the Martial Soul City Orphanage, fed by Spirit Hall since childhood—how could she not join Spirit Hall?
"My name is Hu Liena."
Within the Hexagram Awakening Array stood a little girl with long orange hair falling over her shoulders, two pairs of fox ears atop her head, a delicate face, thin lips, curved willow-leaf brows, and clear pink eyes that had turned pink after Martial Soul Possession. Her eyes were free of the slightest impurity, yet brimming with intense charm, enough to easily stir a man's heart. Her skin was fairer than snow, and a fluffy pink fox tail swayed behind her, making one want to grab it.
One could imagine that once this girl named Hu Liena grew up, she would undoubtedly become a beauty capable of toppling cities and kingdoms. After Martial Soul Possession, her allure would become even more unimaginable.
The Awakening Master nodded slightly. "Hu Liena, what a lovely name. I will report your talent to Spirit Hall shortly. I believe an elder who is a Title Douluo will soon come and take you as a disciple."
"There is no need. Leave this little girl to me. I will be her teacher."
A crisp, pleasant voice rang out as Bibi Dong walked in. She had passed by the Awakening Hall and heard everything that had happened inside. After observing with Mental Power and discovering that the one who had awakened the Heavenly Fox Martial Soul was such an adorable little girl, she immediately developed the thought of taking her as a disciple.
Innate Soul Power of level 9.7, a top-grade Martial Soul, and a rare mental-type Martial Soul—if properly nurtured, she would absolutely grow into a Title Douluo in the future. Moreover, aside from some particularly monstrous geniuses, mental-attribute Soul Masters were basically unmatched among those of the same rank.
"Greetings, Saintess."
The Awakening Master immediately bowed upon seeing Bibi Dong.
Bibi Dong gave a slight nod, then looked at Hu Liena, whose eyes were filled with little stars. Ruffling her hair, she smiled. "Your name is Hu Liena, correct?"
"Yes, Saintess Sister."
Hu Liena's eyes were filled with admiration. At the Martial Soul City Orphanage, two people had the greatest reputations. One was the current Saintess, Bibi Dong, a peerless genius with Twin Martial Souls and Innate Full Soul Power. The other was Qian Renhan, Spirit Hall's Eldest Young Master, who had crushed the younger generation of the Upper Three Sects. She had never expected to meet one of them today, much less have that person take her as a disciple.
Bibi Dong asked, "Are you willing to become my disciple?"
"I am, I am, Saintess Sister!" Hu Liena was so excited that she nearly jumped up.
Bibi Dong nodded in satisfaction and added, "Now that you are my disciple, are you still going to call me Saintess Sister?"
Hu Liena came to her senses and hurriedly said, "Teacher."
"What a clever child. Come with Teacher."
Bibi Dong took Hu Liena's hand and headed toward the Papal Palace. Seeing Hu Liena's obedient and adorable appearance, she thought of Qian Renxue, who looked extremely similar to Qian Xunji and had awakened the Angel Martial Soul, as well as Qian Renhan, who had ignored her and her feelings and tossed them aside like trash. The motherly love she had accumulated for years with nowhere to place it, along with the emptiness in her heart, was slightly filled.
As they stepped onto the stairs of Papal Mountain, Bibi Dong suddenly said, "Nana, from today onward, you will live with Teacher. Teacher will use all the knowledge I have learned to help you succeed."
Hu Liena froze slightly. Looking at Bibi Dong's stunningly beautiful and kind face, her eyes grew moist. "Thank you, thank you, Teacher."
"What is it? Why are you crying? Did someone bully you at the orphanage?" Bibi Dong crouched down and wiped Hu Liena's tears away.
Hu Liena shook her head, her voice choked with sobs. "No, Teacher. Just now, I suddenly thought of my mother, who sacrificed herself to protect me."
Hu Liena's family had been wiped out. Only the two siblings escaped under cover. Since their family had connections with Spirit Hall, they were taken in by the Martial Soul City Orphanage.
Bibi Dong nodded slightly and stroked Hu Liena's head. "Nana, Teacher will protect you well. I will not let you suffer any grievance."
Hearing those warm words, Hu Liena smiled obediently. "Thank you, Teacher. Teacher, I have an older brother. He is studying at the Soul Master Academy now. My brother's Innate Soul Power is level eight, close to level nine. At the orphanage, my brother was always the one protecting me, so no one bullied me."
Bibi Dong was stunned upon hearing this. Another extraordinarily talented genius—such Innate Soul Power even had the potential to challenge for the rank of Consecrated Douluo in the future. She had truly found a treasure.
Bibi Dong nodded. "Nana, the knowledge taught by the mentors at the Soul Master Academy is not as extensive as what Teacher can teach you. Once you have finished learning under Teacher, I will send you to the Soul Master Academy to study. How does that sound?"
The Soul Master Academy was outside Spirit City. Descendants of elders and Consecrated Douluo, as well as nearly all the geniuses of Spirit City, went there for further study, except for Qian Renhan and Qian Renxue.
As the inheritor of the Six-Winged Angel, as well as Spirit Hall's Saintess and the successor to the next Pope, Qian Renxue could not attend a Soul Master Academy. She studied at Qian Daoliu's side. Bibi Dong had been the same when she was young; as the Saintess, she studied under Qian Xunji to prevent any accidents. Qian Renhan, on the other hand, could have gone, since hardly anyone kept him in check. However, he had no interest in the academy and felt it was a waste of time.
"Alright, Teacher." Hu Liena readily agreed.
Not too far from Spirit Hall, atop a mountain peak that pierced the clouds, Qian Xunji stood with his hands behind his back. Two Title Douluo and a large contingent from Spirit Hall stood beside him, all quietly watching a tall middle-aged man lying in the distance. His body was covered in wounds and bloodstains, and that man was naturally Tang Hao.
Spirit City stood at the border between the two great empires, and Holy Soul Village was also a small village within the border region between the two empires. This battlefield was not far from Holy Soul Village either. With the Angel Martial Soul's flying speed, how could Tang Hao, running on two legs while carrying two burdens, possibly outrun Qian Xunji's six wings? He was quickly caught, and a fierce battle broke out before he was beaten to the ground.
Qian Xunji said indifferently, "Tang Hao, for the sake of the Clear Sky Sect, hand her over. I will spare your life."
"Dream on, Qian Xunji! If you want to harm her, step over my corpse first!" Tang Hao roared, clutching his chest with both hands and struggling to rise.
